When I read about markets where the blogger, reporter
states how dire it is, I worry about the public getting the impression that broad brush statement wears well, applies to the entire country.
It does not.
When you try to compare a market where $400,000 plus is the house price norm for the single family residence to one where $71,000 is the median price, a square hole with round peg situation happens.
And when the owner of a home with lots of zero places in the price tag or mortgage loses his job, they bleed out quickly.
Like a major artery has been severed, sliced down through with a loud dangerous tissue, muscle and bone splintering spinning tooth chainsaw roar.
But contrast that with the no or small mortgage on a rural market home which actually figures out cheaper than rent.
And if the owner of the home runs a tight ship where money is not needed to fuel his happiness.
Where most of his fun, recreation is no or low cost. Maine is that kind of state, provides a text book example of that scenario.
