At our office agents volunteer for floor time. If a customer walks in or a call comes in, you get the lead unless they are working with a specific agent. We try to cover for each other in emergencies.

You can sign up for floor time 9-1 or 1-5, Monday through Friday and 10-2, Saturdays and Sundays. A customer actually came into our office from another company today because there was no agent in the office across the street.   I know it's a little slow, but at least someone should be minding the store.

Personally, I always have work I can do and still do floor time. If a lead comes in during that time, it's a bonus.

Wow, that isn't good for them.  I guess their loss is your gain.  Do you get a lot of walk-ins?

The concept of "walk-ins" is interesting.  It's been a long time since I was in an office that would even have a walk-in.  I realize there are different business models in every area.  I love going to the mountains and looking at the real estate listings plastered on the windows for the tourists to see.

I have often wondered how long it would take to hone my "qualifing skills" if I were to work in a resort area where people would dreamily want to go see homes.

We use a variety of skills in our business.  It's fun to ponder the differences here on AR.

That is the same concept of Open Houses...if you have advertized them things should happen, but if not.. you can always get other things done in that time..... just bring your laptop, files and your phone.....

And don't drink all the lemonade you put on the counter or table either....hehehehe ;-D

We have had the same thing happen at our office. We are open 7 days a week, and on the weekends we see the same thing happen, someone will call or stop at another office and they are closed and then they will give us a call or stop by our office!

I love floor time. I have gotten a couple of sales by being there when no one else was and I get a lot of work done while I'm minding the store. If it is quiet I can get ally paperwork caught up andmy files in order. Making phone calls is tricky because that's the time the phone will ring but it's a great time for emails and cards.
