Hi Marlene - LOL...Real Estate is an Adventure....

After removing a single key from the keybox, ever drop a doorkey on a deck, have it fall through the cracks, down 15 feet of steep hillside, then have to find and retreive it in high heels, all while your client is looking on?  ....That my friends, is the Adventure part of the job!  Thanks for including  my tag line!  :  )

PS, Adventures in Real Estate is what I have been using in my part of my profile too.                        ** UPDATED ** ...actually the first page of my AR blog underneath my photo!

Rosario - Glad to hear you joined our new group.  Looking forward to reading your stories!

Deborah - Glad to hear that we agree...Real Estate is an Adventure.... Oh my gosh.  Love your key through the deck story.  Can't wait to read more from you and to get to know you better.  I love your great attitude and sense of humor.  I actually borrowed the title from a fiend who's business is Adventures in Advertising.  Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I knew Curt wouldn't mind.  Great minds think alike.  I'm going to read your profile.

Hi Marlene, I joined your other group too.  Thanks for taking your precious time to do this.  Thanks again for my "Gold Star" :).  Lucky :), had told me I needed to spruce it up a bit...i.e., put a feather by the "could have knocked me over with a feather", but could never figure out how to get a damn picture of a feather in my post!  I'm not real computer literate, being 60 and not a spring chicken like you (now I need a chicken :)...but I'm learning.  Liz

The title sounded cool-I've had several adventures thus far with the highlights including chasing cats down street blocks to find out that the home had a cat door. Idiot.

Michael - Too funny.  Please be sure to write about it and include it in the group.  My hope in setting up the group is to share some of the funny things that happen to us in the course of doing our jobs.

So this client and I were looking at older homes in the Goosetown area of Iowa City and the listing agency didn't let me know about a certain cat in the house. We opened up the door and this black cat scurried right out the front door across minor traffic to the other side of the street. Now, I'm not a cat person-I don't know how to handle them & don't understand how they operate. My pet experience comes from from two rather obese pugs which require little exercise and extremely easy to catch while on the loose.

I looked at my client-thinking to myself-how the hell am I going to catch this thing? We went across the street and started calling out to the cat to come back home. I finally came close enough to the black fuzzball...close enough to grab it's tail and attempt to real it in for the rescue. Cats don't like the tail-grabbing I soon found out & Blackjack turned it's head and gave me the old showing of the teeth. Release the cat! I did and it walked further & further away from me. Finally, my client lured Blackjack in with the charm of a cat owner and after 25 minutes or so, we finally had the cat back in the home. Yes!

We went through the house and I thanked my client multiple times throughout the showing for the rescue mission. I fully understand that some pet owners like their pets much more than their human counterparts. We finished up the showing and as we were leaving-and I breathing a huge sigh of relief-we noticed the cat door attached to another door...a door that the fuzzball could have been using the entire time for escape. I am an idiot.
