How many of you are waiting for the crocus to bloom? Signaling the start of the spring home buying season. Just because it is cold outside doesn't mean we need to deep freeze our business. Bear's hibernate, there is no need for Realtors or Loan Officers to hibernate. When it is cold out it does take a little extra energy to get out and do many of the same things that were a lot warmer to do during the summer. Think about it though, plenty of your competition thinks they are bears and need to hibernate, so you will have less competition right now.
I found a great articlethis morning and it is what made me think about why does winter need to put a freeze on things. How hard would it be to run the snowblower over your neighbors driveway while doing your own? To take a couple of winter coats to the Salvation Army or winter coat drive at your church, after all they are just taking up space in your closet and could keep someone warm. Next time it snows, take a couple of minutes and help your co-worker dust off their car as well. Donate some food to the local food pantry. The article has great ideas for helping out your community during the winter. Getting out in the community is how we get our business, summer, or winter.
Team up with a partner and the winter cold will not feel so bad. I remember a day when I went with a great Realtor partner of mine calling on local business. It was about a million degrees below zero that day, we laughed the whole day. The conversations were easy to start as everyone wondered what we were doing out on a day like that, and we got several leads that day, of which one turned into a regular customer.
Go put your coat, hat, mittens, and boots on and look for some business. It's out there.
