Dandelions in Kentlands - Roy and Dolores Kelley Photographs

Many see dandelions as pesky weeds in their lawns and gardens.  We grumble, dig them up and toss them in the trash.  At this time of the year, we seem to have a surplus of dandelions in Kentlands, in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

My suggestion for you is to take photographs of the dandelions before you destroy them.  We might as well enjoy the beauty that nature has provided for most of our lawns.  Take a closer look at you own dandelions.  You might want to hang one of the photographs in your home.

Take some good pictures and have a wonderful weekend.  Share your dandelion photographs!

Roy: They really are pretty when seen up-close.  Unfortunately, about the time we see one we go get out the gardner shovel.

Thanks so much for your comments.  Do you have a more beautiful flower in your garden?

Roy your pictures can make anything look beautiful, i feel like i am at war with them as their dreaded white seeds blow from neighbors lawn to mine. Have a great Saturday

Dandelions can be just as pretty as other flowers that need a bit more care.  This flower is carefree and beautiful it its own right.

Good morning Roy and Dolores.  Dandelions are pretty but I must say just yesterday I got out my spade and dug up a bucket full of them from our yard.  Hope you and Dolores enjoy a wonderful weekend.

Roy,

That is a really good idea to take pictures of the pretty flowers. If we lreave them in our flower bed we will get a lettedr from the HOA telling us to pull the weeds.

Beautiful, indeed. I remember a quote about the definition of a weed: a plant growing where we don't want it to grow. Don't know to whom that should be attributed.

Roy,

I love that you can show us the beauty in these pesky weeds, Roy - the close-up almost makes it look like a chrysanthemum.

Your Dandelion photos are awesome even if they are a pesky weed. Still adds color to the landscape.

Hi Roy, This is one of things I really like about you is that you really appreciate all of natures' gifts. Well done and I like the lesson.

Hi Roy, Yes dandelions do have a bad rap.  They have a way of multiplying if you don't watch out.  I knew a person years ago who made wine and jelly out of them.  They do add a nice color along with other flowers.

I like your advise.
