Bodega is the new word of the day.

When I was a youngster living near Russellville Arkansas when we went to town we drove by one of these.  For some reason they had what I wanted and I got several boxes of them each time I went in.  Looking back now I sure do wish I had taken pictures of that place.  The meaning of (bo da’ge) is a small grocery store the boxes were 22 rounds and I would go hunting almost every day when I got out of school. <sigh> it also has another meaning of a wine shop; a bar; tavern.  At the time Pope County was a dry county so the meaning to me is a small grocery store.  Old times I remember them well

Not many bodegas here in Jacksonville Beach, FL, but I saw many of them when I was working in NYC!

I did not grow up in a small dry county, so my first choice was a tavern! Enjoy your day!

We have wonderful bodegas nestled around these mountains. Always places for people to gather round, drink their coffee and play checkers/discuss news of the day! We are on the county line one county dry the other should be. Thanks James

Hi James.  We have no bodegas in our area.  I thought the meaning was a Russian vacation home:)

Hi James,

When I was growing up my Aunt and Uncle had a small, quaint, bodega. I was there, at least once a week. I'd play store with my cousins. We bought just about anything and everything - then my Uncle made us return the money to the cash register. Plus, we had to return the merchandise too. In addition, he made us clean the floors and taught us that with play, comes responsibility!

Good evening, Roger. I remember these - especially growing up in the country. And I do buying a box of 22 rounds for less than a buck...
