A Lesson in Receiving

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with 3:16 team REALTY ~ Locally-owned Prosper TX Real Estate Co. #9001154

We go through different phases and seasons in life. At times, we give, give and give some more. Especially in our line of work, we often give so much to everyone around us: our clients, our vendors, our friends and our family. But then, there are times when we should RECEIVE in our season.

The RECEIVING is something some people don't adjust well, especially when they have been givers ALL their lives.

This season, I'm more receptive of the idea of RECEIVING. Letting others around me reach out and provide while I have to learn to RECEIVE. To let others help and assist me. It's not easy but it has sure made life a little more sane in this hectic life.

Every servant needs to learn to receive. It enables others to serve and it's giving the opportunity to others so they can learn to serve.

And telling myself that IT'S OKAY TO LET OTHERS HELP ME.

Scripture of the Week:

Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:26-28

Receiving is very important.  When one denies a gift of any kind, one denies the other persons right to give.  Being open to receptivity is also being a giver.   It is hard though and takes a lot of adjusting to get over the hump of receiving.   Great post.  Thank you!

A great message, I agree that it's very refreshing to be on the other end and receiving help, encouragement, whatever form it comes in.

Loreena, you are so right. Much easier to give than all of a sudden be on the receiving end.

Hi Loreena,

Receiving is a tough for many of us - definitely for me.  But that is exactly what we need sometimes.  We sow seeds and at some point there has to be a harvest to receive.  Thanks for the post and best of success to you this year!

Most of us truly are more comfortable giving than receiving, but with some concentrated effort, we can become gracious receivers.

Thanks so much for your  great reminders!
