INSERT DESCRIPTIONMany of you may remember a story a couple months ago about a man who developed a health condition due to a chemcial contained in microwave popcorn.  I took this story very light-heartedly since I didn't believe that too much popcorn could cause someone to be hospitalized.  However, I was wrong!

ConAgra Foods has announced that they are taking out the chemical diacetyl in its popcorn to help prevent a deadly lung disease in many of its workers.  Below is a link to the full article.

4 Comments on Popcorn Is Now Safer...When Wasn't It???

I remember a bunch of years ago about a Ralph Nader report on herbal tea - mint to be exact - being bad for you and at that point sort of gave up worrying about it.  And I worked for Ralph at the time!

Wow, interesting stuff. Who would've thought.......microwave popcorn a health hazard. Makes you think about twice about anything you eat or drink.

Hi Sal, thank goodness I always preferred the old-fashioned oil in the pan popcorn.  This is something I hadn't heard about.
