Gita, this is a good list, but for people who have lost a pet, actually having the phone numbers, email addresses or other contact info. of these places you are suggessting, would be really helpful.  When people have lost a beloved pet, they are panicked and need all the info at their finger tips.

Also, as to posters of pets you have found, I recommened you NEVER put a picture of the found animal on the poster as then any one could describe and claim it even if it isn't theirs. Give just the barest of descriptions and then let the caller give you details, such as type of collar, length of tail, any special markings etc.

Gita, it's very frightening when you lose your pet. This is great information.

Great ideas for finding a lost pet Gita including the id tags or the microchip. I always worry about them getting hit in traffic with not paying attention.

Gita, thank you for this submission of such important information.  I agree with Leslie that if you are able to provide some of the contact information for the vets, animal control, local papers, etc that would be very helpful to people who might choose to google something like "lost dog near warwick, pa" they might well encounter your post and be very reassured to find out there are good resources in your area.  Have a good evening.

perhaps it would be a good plan to post this information town by town with have you lost your pet in " ??" township.  people might google that and then have all the info and it would give you additional posts to write for several weeks.
