Bucks County is a pet friendly county. There are resources for pet owners.

Here are some things you can do if you lost your pet :

Call the Bucks County SPCA at 215-794-7425

www.bcspca.org/general/lost-found.html

It is located at 1665 Street rd, Lahaska,Pa 18931

Call local animal control officer/police/township building

Place an advertisement in the newspaper

Call local veterinarians

Make posters with picture of your pet and post them in the neighborhood and ask people in the neighborhood.

If you live in Middletown township or think you lost your pet in the township, the township maintains a stray kennel where they take dogs that are found loose in the township. When an owner cannot be located they then take it to the Bucks county SPCA

Here are things you can do if you found a pet :

Ask around in the neighborhood

Place a found pet Ad in the local newspaper.

Make posters and place in the neighborhood

Call the township

Call the SPCA

TO REPORT A LOST  OR FOUND DOG go to PAlostdog.com . If the dog has a license the post will stay up till dog is returned. If it does not have a license, the post will be removed after one week.

Gita, this is a good list, but for people who have lost a pet, actually having the phone numbers, email addresses or other contact info. of these places you are suggessting, would be really helpful.  When people have lost a beloved pet, they are panicked and need all the info at their finger tips.

Also, as to posters of pets you have found, I recommened you NEVER put a picture of the found animal on the poster as then any one could describe and claim it even if it isn't theirs. Give just the barest of descriptions and then let the caller give you details, such as type of collar, length of tail, any special markings etc.

Leslie, I agree. For pets found it is not a good idea to give too many details. As for telephone numbers of all the townships I think the person would have it because there are too many townships and best thing is to call 411 from the area where the pet is missing. Most of the time it is from the house.

They can ofcourse call the Bucks County SPCA.

Great ideas for finding a lost pet Gita including the id tags or the microchip. I always worry about them getting hit in traffic with not paying attention.

Gita, thank you for this submission of such important information.  I agree with Leslie that if you are able to provide some of the contact information for the vets, animal control, local papers, etc that would be very helpful to people who might choose to google something like "lost dog near warwick, pa" they might well encounter your post and be very reassured to find out there are good resources in your area.  Have a good evening.

Mona, I have the number for SPCA in the county. There are many townships and veterinarians in the county. It is not just one township.

Gayle, I do not own a pet.Would love to share the photo of one of your pets.

perhaps it would be a good plan to post this information town by town with have you lost your pet in " ??" township.  people might google that and then have all the info and it would give you additional posts to write for several weeks.
