Is Your Attitude Like Wet Tissue?

Am I the only one that forgets to take tissues out of pockets before doing laundry?  laundry Onslow County Homes

It's the time of year when at least one person in the family has the sniffles.  So, that means tissues in the pockets of pants and jackets.  Does anyone think to take them out before putting them in the laundry basket?  The answer is "no", not at my house anyway.  Not even me.

This morning I did a load of dark clothes which included black tops, a black sweat suit and jeans.  To my very unpleasant surprise, when I opened the washer to pull out the clean, wet clothes and put them in the dryer......there on all these dark colored, wet clothes were tiny, little pieces of tissue!  (I should have taken a photo, but guess I was too distressed to think about it)

Not fun!  I know, it's my fault--the tissue was in my pockets and I should have checked.  I am responsible.   Not the way I wanted to start my day.

Is your attitude like wet tissue?  A negative attitude and outlook could be like the wet tissue on my wet, dark colored clothes.

If you are not very careful, it will break into lots of small pieces and get on and contaminate everything around you.  Once is gets on and into things, getting it completely off without leaving traces of it behind is very difficult.

Remember, you are responsible and if it happens--it's your fault.

Oh, Cynthia..don't mean to laugh, but I LOVE that graphic! That's how I feel every time I do laundry! LOL

Now, to the serious side..our attitude is EVERYTHING!! Love this post and the analogy. Have a wonderful day!

Cynthia-I'm with Linda, the photo and the beginning of your post had me laughing.  I just dread those forgotten tissues, but yes that dread is to not be dreaded if I didn't check.  As for your analogy,  love it.  Our attitudes often need to be checked, we are ultimately responsible for our own attitudes. Have a wonderful day!

Cynthia,  It's too funny, but when I first started reading this, it reminded me that I had to throw the towels that I washed this morning into the dryer because I had forgotten about them.

Many people need to read this.  I try to keep my attitude bright & positive.  In fact as I was reading this, there is a friend that I should call, but they exude too much negativity that is why I rarely call them.

Cynthia~ I just starting my dark laundry and I can just bet there's a tissue in it too!  Nice segue into our attitudes and outcomes!

Cynthia, Wow, we can all relate, we're all guilty of this...not only in the laundry but in our attitudes.  I take full responsibility for my day---and my wash :)  Thanks for a cheery post!

Cynthia ~  Great post and way funny!  I absolutely hate laundry!  It is a never ending battle.  So is our attitude!  Thanks for the reminder!

I'm guilty this season. But I'll be alright as long as I stay away from anyone wearing dark clothes :)

Cynthia- OK, but what if someone else left the tissue :) :)  Seriously, I liked the end.....the negative attitude has a way of getting on everything around it....yep, that's just like your wet tissue pieces :) :)

Cynthia: Yup...negativity gets all over the soul....and just like those pieces of tissue on dark clothing....very annoying. You will see some here and there here on AR just like in real life.... I avoid them here as I do in real life and like Jennifer....will try and not wear the dark clothes when I am near the tissue. lol!

Neat analogy, Cynthia!  Negativity spreads out like waves and soaks everyone around within miles around too...if I find myself getting wet tissue-like, I quickly give myself a talking to and things change rapidly.

Oh no you do not. I friend of mine over loaded the wash machine with a pen in the pocket and get a load of this one. The load included a pillow. Yes, that is correct a pillow for you head at night in your bed.

Cynthia, I do the tissues in the pockets in the laundry all the time unfortunately but I'm more worried about the $10 bills in the pants pockets at the dry cleaners. Attitude is everything, you are right. A good one is as infectious as a bad one.

Cynthia, I love the analogy is  your attitude like wet tissue! I never have tissue in my pockets, But Roger....Fahgedaboutit! Yikes! He uses Bounty for tissue and usually folds one  up and keeps in his pants pockets.  Yeah I have been there and done that a hundred times! Not fun!

Cynthia, especially when you wash dark clothing..or black socks and have those tissue pieces all over them. Funny....haven't had that happen for awhile. Great analogy to a frustrating wash day.

Cynthia - At one point my life was hectic, and I too would forget to check pockets. Let see, I have washed wallets, license , tissue, pens, sharpners to name a few. I did not take the blame, I told my family members it was their fault for not removing the items before putting it in the laundry basket. Your post really gave me a good laugh.

Cynthia, love that photo too.  Reminds me of what I should be doing right now!

Hi Linda,
It's ok as long as you are not laughing at me picking specks of white tissue off my clothes!    :0)

Hello Julie,
When will I ever learn to check all pockets?   I bet I will be checking for the next few weeks while this particular laundry day is fresh in my mind.  Attitude?  Yes, I have to check that often too.

Marc,
It is depressing to be around negative people isn't it?  If they only understood  what they are doing to themselves and others.  Thanks.

12/20/2007 08:52 AM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Oh Lisa,
I hope not!  What a mess it makes.  I have picked, brushed, rewashed and dried and I'm still find white specs on those clothes.

Carole,
Me too, no one to blame but me when things go wrong around here.  I'm the adult and I take full responsibility.Thanks.

Hello Sarah,
Laundry is  not a chore I enjoy either and you are right it's never ending.  Where do all those dirty clothes come from?  Who uses so many towels?  Oh yeah, it's me.  Thank you.

12/20/2007 02:19 PM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Hi Christopher,
It is a good photo, isn't it?  I think it is a good illustration of how most feel about doing laundry.  LOL!

Hello Jennifer B.,
Sure, take the easy way out!  :0)

Keith & Robin,
It truly does!  Thanks for stopping by.

12/20/2007 04:32 PM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Hi Kathy,
Well if someone else is responsible, they get to pick the specks off the clothes and out of the washer!

A negative attitude does seem to rub off on everyone around...steer clear!

Hello Sally,
Yes, I agree I try to avoid those with the negative attitudes....I don't need someone to pull me down in the mud.

Hi Sonja,
Actually, I am in good spirits and pretty well prepared for Christmas but I was not prepared for wet tissue in my washer and all over my clothes.  What a annoying mess!  Merry Christmas!

12/20/2007 04:38 PM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Hi Jo,
Sometimes I have to look in the mirror and have a pep talk!  I don't need negativity stuck to me any more than I need wet tissue specks on my clothing.  :0)

Susan,
Now let me get this straight.....your friend was washing a pillow and there was an ink pen in the machine?  So, I guess she came out with a blue pillow.  I wonder how that affect one's dreams?

12/20/2007 04:41 PM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Gary,
Yes, that would worry me too.  I am very good about checking pockets at the dry cleaners--they are not getting my pocket money!

Hi Ginger,
Ten  licks with a wet noodle for Roger or better yet, let him pick all that off the clothes and out of the washer.  LOL!

Teri,
You must check pockets better than I do if you haven't had that happen  in awhile.  I think I will be checking more closely at least until it's no longer fresh on my mind.   Thanks for coming by.

12/20/2007 04:46 PM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Hi Jennifer F..
Glad you got a good laugh from my post, I was not laughing when I found that big mess all over my clothes!  Take care.

Peggy,
Go do your laundry but be sure to check pockets!  Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Cynthia,

This is a good pick-me-up for the start of the Friday before Christmas!  You're the best.

Cynthia ~  I guess that the obvious answer then is that we do not use towels, maybe we just drip dry!  :)

12/21/2007 09:07 AM by Sarah Eubanks ~ Preferred Oregon Loan Consultant & Notary Public (Hill Valley Financial Services)

Hello Mike,
Thanks for stopping by.  Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Hi Sarah,
I'm not sure I understand about the towels but Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

12/21/2007 12:26 PM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Wow, I love the way you put that and you are right. One little thing such as a tissue can ruin everything in the laundry if you let it. It is just better to throw out the negative thoughts and get a clean pair of pants!

12/30/2007 12:15 AM by Todd Clark (Realtor), GRI (Washington Co, Beaverton, Oregon) (Kastings & Associates, Oregon)

Hi Todd,
You got it!  Let's get on with it, right?  Thanks for coming by.

12/30/2007 09:34 PM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Cynthia- I always check pockets before doing my laundry. My daughter leaves wrappers and notes from school instead of tissues. It is always fun to find nasty stuff all over the laundry that we took time to do..haha!

05/01/2008 10:50 PM by Sharon Hampton (Re/Max Around The Mountains)

Sharon,
Yeah, right!  Not!  I usually do, but sometimes get in a rush and/or forget and that's when there is always something in a pocket.
