Wheaton - Population: 55,000+

Wheaton Train StationWheaton, with its strong reputation as a family-oriented community, has recently gained even more notoriety as it has been chosen as one of "50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family," in a book by Lee and Saralee Rosenberg.  Wheaton has also been named "the healthiest of Chicago's largest suburbs" in a recent survey evaluating the public health, safety and environment of several suburban communities.  Wheaton incorporated as a village in 1837 and became the DuPage County government seat in 1867.  As one of the top Illinois communities for residential and commercial construction, Wheaton has done a wonderful job of preserving its history with the recent renovation of the downtown district, while still recognizing the demand for growth, progress and expansion that today's world requires.

The Wheaton school system consistently ranks among the best in Illinois.  Wheaton-Warrenville District 200 services elementary through high school students.  In addition to the 11 elementary schools and 4 middle schools of district 200, Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South are the district's two high schools.  One also finds a Catholic elementary school and high school and a non-denominational Christian elementary school.  Wheaton Court HouseAdvance placement courses for college credit and a great variety of extra-curricular activities provide for well-rounded programs available at the high schools.  The 70-acre campus of Wheaton College, one of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges in the country, is located in the heart of the city.  College of DuPage, located in neighboring Glen Ellyn, is the largest community college in Illinois and has a 273-acre campus.

A pleasant mixture of old and new, the housing styles in Wheaton are both distinct and varied in order to encompass everyone's taste and price range.  From the charming and lovely Victorian and Colonial homes to the traditional and conventional 2 stories, split levels and ranches to the convenience of townhome and condominium living - there's a home to fulfill everyone's needs!  The overall prices for Wheaton homes range from approximately $150,000 to over $1,000,000.
