Attracting Hummingbirds to your home in Murphy, NC
Everyone loves seeing these beauties jet back and forth from tree to feeder.
Here are a few great ways to attract hummingbirds for plenty of entertainment ...

www.freeherbpictures.comGrow late blooming nectar sources. Tubular-shape blooms in bright red or orange are ones they really love like Salvia, Bee Balm, Hyssop and Butterfly Weed.

A little place to rest. I know it seems like they never stop moving, but while they do like to dart back and forth, they do rest. They prefer perching on hidden branches, particularly evergreens.

Add some moving water. Hummingbirds drink and bathe on the fly as they dart in and out of oscillating sprinklers. They also love birdbaths and misters - like all the other birds and butterflies do too.

Serve Hummingbird takes a rest on our finger!some fast food.  Sugar water is their energy drink. To mix up a batch of homemade nectar just bring 4 parts water to 1 part sugar to a boil and then let it cool. You don’t need to add food coloring!

2000 miles That’s the flight the Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds - the only widespread hummer species east of the Rockies make every fall when they migrate from Northern climates to their wintering grounds in Mexico and Central America. The trip includes a 600 mile crossing over the Gulf of Mexico.

Enjoy the mountain lifestyle in the western NC, north GA and east TN mountains

Hummingbirds are great to have in your garden since they also polinated flowers and plants.

Thanks Rob. It's as much fun getting the yard and feeders ready as it is watching them!

Carol,  great post on my favorites too!  I've been wondering if I should put my feeder out earlier this year as the weathers been so warm...  I make my own nectar for them just like your recipe.  I love these little guys!

Happy Easter my friend!
