Hi Gita!  What a great suggestion.  My dog Stryker was rescued from a shelter one day before she would have been put down.  A friend of ours rescued her,  fattened her up a bit and then offered her to us.  We grabbed her, loved her,  and put her in training.  Today she is a certifed Wilderness search dog.  If you are lost, she will find you.

Oh, Gita, I really wish more people would adopt from shelters and rescues!  One of mine is a "shelter dog" and he is simply amazing!  All he needed was a good home and love and what he gives back?  Immeasurable!

Gita, I really like that you provided good links and contact information for this local resource in your community.  So many people would rather adopt/save an animal from a shelter or humane society than buy one.  Thank you for making this information available to the people in your neighborhood.

Leesa, I saw the picture of your shelter dog. She is adorable.

Tammy, I have read that people who have pets live longer.

Mona, Thank you.

I have been pondering over how to do the pet contest entries. I have a couple of Tributes and Stories of my Goldens over the years that are probably going to get posted. Stewing on it. This is a really good concept, too. Might borrow this idea for turf.
