Olympia Farmers Market will open for the 2012 season this coming Thursday, April 5th - so now I truly believe that spring has come at last!  (never mind that weather forecast I heard earlier today that said we might have "chunky rain" tonight).

Can't wait to head down to Olympia Farmers Market for some fresh, local food - produce is likely just beginning to be ready, but there will be meat, seafood, eggs, baked goods, plant starts for my garden and who knows what all else.

Tulips at Olympia Farmers Market

I do know that I will be making a beeline for the vendor that typically has cut tulips in so many colors that I just have to stand there and admire for a while.  Then I will be taking home some of those tulips for a touch of spring beauty at home - hurray!  And hurray for Olympia Farmers Market's opening day for the year!!

Gorgeous photo of tulips, Nancy!  I absolutely LOVE local Farmer's Markets - there is no better way to show support for local farmers AND get the absolute freshest produce and other items!

Everyone needs to support local growers and/or become ones.  With all the GMO's and corporate manipulations of our food sources, the only thing that will save us is to become locally self sustaining

Hi Leslie. We are lucky to still have a number of farms in our area....and we're planning a bigger garden in our own yard, too.
