It was beautiful and sunny earlier today as I drove to my noontime Jazzercise® class. With about 15 minutes remaining in the class, the weather turned severe with heavy rain, thunder, and tornado sightings. Sirens were sounded to notify everyone about potential tornado activity. Our instructor asked everyone in class if we should continue. We collectively decided to finish the class -- agreeing it would be safer inside than outside. (And, since my instructor is 3 months pregnant, I even offered to throw myself on top of her if the windows blew out!)
Luckily, the tornadoes didn’t touch down in our immediate area. However, had I not decided to stop in for a 1-hour Jazzercise® class, I would have been outside driving around, sirens blaring, possibly in the tornadoes’ paths, and perhaps unable to find shelter fast enough. Yeah, yeah … I know I may sound a little dramatic, but that scenario was definitely a real possibility.
The real scenario here is that several tornadoes touched down in the Dallas area -- and many people are dealing with unbelievable damage and destruction. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those people -- and I consider myself extremely fortunate and lucky. You know ... everyone says exercise is good for you. Boy, have they got that right!
