My iPhone saved the day today, twice!

Did you ever have one of those days where everything went sideways and you were just fascinated with each new development?  That was my day. Things are back to normal now, whatever that is.

My morning started with a forgotten appointment, but thanks to my iPhonetrusty iPhone it reminded me before I was late.  I had totally forgotten it.  There was really no chance I would have made it without the beeping phone.  No problem.  Crisis averted.

Then, I had to be in two different communities photographing properties.  No problem.  I arrived at the first one and began taking pictures.  When I had taken five pictures, my camera started flashing that it was out of memory.  What?  I have a 16 GB  memory card in that camera.  I messed with it for a couple seconds and then I realized, no disk.  I had left the disk in my computer at the office.

OK, no problem.  I have the pictures I needed for house 1, now on to house 2.  I stopped by Target on the way and picked up another disk.  No problem.  When I arrived in the second community I glanced at the directions and immediately took the east direction instead of the west direction.  After about 5 miles, I thought something didn't feel right.

I turned around and headed back the right way.  I found the house fine, and when I started taking pictures I discovered that my new disk didn't work.  It would load about 30 copies of the same image on my camera viewer.  That iPhonewould never do.

I'm 30 miles from my office, 15 miles from the nearest store and my wife needs to trade vehicles in less than an hour.  Then it dawned on me, I can use my iPhone.  I took all the pictures I needed with my iPhone and headed back to the office.

I hesitated to upgrade to the iPhone for a long time, but now I am so glad I did.  My old Palm would not have been able to keep up with the changing dynamics today.  This was a strange one, but everything worked out and I'm back on course.  My iPhone saved the day today, twice!

Leslie, I was slow to change.  I guess I was comfortable with my old phone, and I didn't want to have to learn a new one.  Ironically, my old phone had a huge notebook with hundreds of pages and my new phone has a little brochure like pamphlet that told what I need to know.  It was a very easy change.

I'll have to get that one, Rene.  That would have saved a little time today.

What a crazy day Mike!  The iPhone was a life-saver..or should I say "deal-saver" in my office in the past.....

I wrote about using "FACETIME" on an iphone to write an offer  a few months back... http://activerain.com/blogsview/2672025/2011-december-blogging-challenge-writing-an-offer-via-facetime-on-the-iphone

Mike,

Awesome improvisions!  Each and every day, things come up in our ever changing work environment and learning to think on our feet is a great skill.  It's never dull in this business.

I carry an extra battery for my camera in my purse whenever I am going to shoot pictures.  I need to upgrade to the 4S before I count on it for quality pictures, but I have used it for video to send to owners in Tokyo.  The wonders of technology.

All the best, Michelle

Joy, my electrical contracting company uses Face Time to have me look at problems when the guys have a question from the field.  I love this phone!

Michelle, I bought the 4S about 4-6 weeks ago, and I love it.  I'm still kicking myself for waiting as long as I did.  It does just about everything I can imagine, and I'm sure there is a bunch I haven't even seen yet.  I did work up what a payment would be for a client two weeks ago.  The Zillow app does factor in insurance and taxes.  So, it was probably within $10 of the actual payment.  Nice!

Caprice, all of the Apple folks I know are rabid fans.  After using the iPhone, I see why!  It is the easiest and most efficient phone I've eve used.  I'm definitely a convert.  8-)

It happens, doesn't it, Jennifer.  Now, if I could have fixed lunch on my iPhone, it would have been perfect.  8-)

Mimi, Siri and I getting to be good friends.  I love the way that works.  All is well on the east coast.  I trust you're doing well also.

Lisa, I wish I had used it on the first house.  I have to go back and shoot it.  8-)

Conrad, I think I was more afraid of that than I was the price.  It was a lot easier to learn than the Palm Treo that I used for 4 years.  Much easier.  Have a great day.

Hey Mike. I think I take for granted my IPHONE.  I'm sure I have not utilized it to its capacity yet.  I think sometimes I forget I take pictures with it.

Hey, Scott.  It got to be pretty funny after a while.  What else could go awry?  It doesn't pay to ask that. 8-)

Cheryl, it took me forever to decide on whether I wanted an iPhone, a Droid X or a Blackberry Torch.  It took so long they all came out with a new version.  My youngest son got an iPhone and clinched it.  I love it now!

Anne, I wasn't really all that comfortable either, but when I got back and loaded them to the computer they were really good.  That was a big relief.
