Your thinking about selling and you've been looking at listings on websites for 6 months now.  You haven't yet taken the plunge because there's something holding you back.  Whether it be that you think you owe more than the house is worth, or you want to wait until the market improves, or you have children in college still and want to see if they'll need to come back home after they graduate, or you haven't yet found the right home... it's probably a good idea to write me into your schedule before you plan to attend that open house this weekend!

Take the first step

If you find yourself looking at listings dreaming about your next home, it's probably time to take a step in that direction toward achieving your goals.  Selling and buying are not a simple, short process.  It won't happen quickly, but meeting with me to discuss your future plans will help you shape your thoughts around the NEXT steps toward planning your move.  If you never have that conversation with a REALTOR, you are likely to never get to the next step.  This part is easy, let's talk!

 

What's holding you back?

Think about all of the things that need to happen before you put your house on the market.  Have those ready for me at your first appointment.  Maybe you think you have projects to complete.  Make a list of them and we can talk about them.  It could be they are not the right projects to invest you money in, and I may recommend something else. 

 

Why now?

Interest rates are extremely low.  Waiting due to reasons that have to do with "life's happenings" often can't be sped up.  But waiting because you think you have projects to finish, or because you haven't yet found the right place to purchase yet, aren't the best reasons to wait.

 

Step 2 can never come before Step 1

Suppose you got lucky and found the ideal house for you.  What would you do? Sellers are advisde not to accept any offer unless the buyer has their home on the market and under contract (subject to obtaining suitable housing).  That is the first step.  Once you discover that there are homes available within the price range you think you will be searching in, give me a call.  I'll be recommending that you call a lender as well to begin discussing mortgages.  Assuming you sell your home, do you qualify for a mortgage and ...which one? Under what conditions? That is all important to know.
