Life, Family First, Plan B's in Business and Procrastination
I recently read a post from a fairly new blogger Diana Zacarro Titled "Things I've learned in the Past Year (or so)" which she mentioned Family first..and having a plan B..or C in business and your personal life. ( It was Member's Only, so can't link to it).
Well, as we all know the best laid plans can sometimes change overnight. It's hard when you have business going on to step back and take that deep breath when things pop up.
Three days ago we received a nice e-mail from my Brother in law saying that he and his wife and my 4 year old neice were coming to visit from Long Island for 5 days for Easter. So instead of concentrating on finally completing and getting over (late as always) my tax stuff to my CPA, I was running around cleaning, shopping, and preparing for a family visit..in between trying to get a transaction that turned complicated moving along. Oh..why oh why do I put this off to the very end every year! I still need to take some time and do this....but hoping they can "tawk amongst themselves" for a bit while I do...LOL.
Then there is my younger sons surgery that was scheduled last week for this coming Monday. At 21, he has a benign (thank you God) tumor called a pleomorphic adenoma in his neck that needs to be removed or it will continue to grow and possibly become cancerous if not removed. This is supposed to be a routine surgery, but the scary part is that where the tumor is located is right where the facial nerves are...so needless to say, we will all breath a sigh of relief after this is done succesfully.
We just never know when "Life" will come on us and challenge us to juggle things successfully. I know it's easy to say Family comes first..but too often we have to work hard at that too. Having someone to back you up when things get crazy is huge..(plan B). Putting things off that could have been done a while ago and haven't due to my procrastination just adds more stress. Why in the world do so many of us procrastinate when we KNOW it adds stress? Ugh.
So, I'm taking a deep breath, have all my ducks in a row (so far) with business, and now just need to enjoy my visiting family, and my cute as a button neice. Watching as my Mother in Law's face light up with seeing her family after a horrible year dealing with her own battles of cancer makes it worth it. They leave Sunday evening, then Monday morning I will take that deep breath again and head off to the hospital with my son and just be a Mom and be there for him.
