Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals OFOSA Does Work Wonders in Washington County

It's too late for the March 31st event with the Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals OFOSA ... unfortunately I didn't know this organization existed until a few nights ago when I saw their public service announcement on TV.  The March 31st event was a fund raising auction.

But that doesn't mean OFOSA (Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals) won't have more worthwhile events in Portland.  As a matter of act, pet adoption clinics are held every Saturday.

OFOSA offers the following:

  • ADOPTIONSOregon Friends of Shelter Animals adoption services are held EVERY SATURDAY (except public and national holidays) at the following venues

OFOSA Clinic - 4240 SW 185th, Beaverton, OR 97007

Every Tuesday-Saturday 12pm-5pm

PetSmart Tanasbourne - 1295 NW 185th Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97006

Every Saturday 12pm-4pm

PetSmart Tigard - 7501 Southwest Dartmouth St, Tigard, OR 97223

Every Saturday 12pm-4pm

Petco Beaverton - 4037 SE 117th Avenue, Suite C, Beaverton, OR 97005

Every Saturday 12pm-4pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm

PetSmart Wilsonville - 8315 SW Jack Burns Blvd, Wilsonville, OR 97070

Every Saturday 12pm-4pm

  • VOLUNTEERS:  OFOSA needs volunteers to help at their pet adoption clinics or volunteering for FOSTER homes for a cat or dog -- volunteer opportunities are aplenty and needed!

Why Did Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals Get Started?

In 2002 OFOSA was founded as a non-profit to help save the lives of dogs and cats in local animal shelters  slated for euthanasia.  Many of the dogs and cats that Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals came to shelters from puppy mills, pet hoarders, abandoned, tortured animals, strays.  They require immediate medical attention, often many dogs and cats don't survive.

OFOSA's Mission

Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals is a volunteer driven nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to reduce the number of adoptable animals euthanized in overcrowded shelters, restore them to good health, and through adoption, provide them permanent, loving homes.

Hi Carla. This is an interesting post and will make a tremendous difference in the pet shelter awareness campaign. I am impressed with the number of corporate sponsors and employees that have committed to help the organization. It would be amazing to have even more employers jump on board. Great job!

Miss Carla~I'm bookmarking this for future reference (and support) of a program that basically says, we'll take your sick, your poor, your unwanted and give them back the quality of life they so deserve! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, as I know what a BIG HEART you have for animals, too!

Carla:  Loved the info you provided about the shelter's great work and the opportunities that exist for adoption ... but sometimes words speak louder.  I wouldn't have even had to read your great post in order to be drawn in ... both visually and emotionally.  That line-up of cuteness displayed in the video posted almost stopped my heart ...

Carla, I'm so glad you posted on PetProjects and I'll bet we see something about OFOSA's March 2012 Fundraiser.  The best part of this contest is seeing how much is being done in so many areas.  Good luck on the contest.

I am so glad you posted the link for donations.  Perhaps others also missed the March 31st event.

I of course know how much you love your fur babies and miss Poppy.   I miss my office cat since he moved to my mom and dads.  I get to visit him tomorrow.

Hi Carla ~~~

thanks for sharing and drawing awareness to the life of less fortunate pets...it seems to me that many are going through some very disastrous development stages...especially the young ones which will mark them for their whole life
