I've long adhered to three "rules" of commenting on ActiveRain and, today, I broke two of them.
1. If I see a blog which enrages me, I will just pass over it and not even comment.
2. If I strongly disagree, I will write a PROFESSIONALLY worded comment.
Well, today, I was so PO'ed by a blog, I broke two of "my rules of ActiveRain blogging." I let my anger get the best of me and wrote a very scathing and, probably, unprofessional response. I felt better after doing it, but felt remorse because I doubt it got through to the writer of the blog because of my lack of professionalism.
A while later, I received a notice via ActiveRain telling me the blogger was deleting my comment because "my tone was a bit nasty." Okay, I deserved that.
Later, after I had the time to cool down, I follow MY THIRD RULE FOR ACTIVERAIN BLOGGING - I picked up the phone to personally apologize. Unfortunately, I got a voice mail, but I said what I had to so say, "I'm sorry."
So, next time I write something unprofessional in your incendiary blog, feel free to call me on it - in writing, by deleting me, whatever. I should never have been so unprofessional, but I felt the blog was SO WRONG on SO MANY LEVELS. I just need to remember to be a professional.
To any ActiveRain members I've been nasty to, please know that I'm truly sorry - I love ActiveRain and the opportunity to get to know so many people. I also love to be able to agree to disagree. But, being professional at every turn is one thing I remembered from one of my teachers when getting my MBA - professionalism comes first.
Have a great weekend everyone.
