Hi Everyone,

Salvation Army Bell Ringers Wanted, that's what the signs say all over town.  You walk past the Red bucket and the bell ringers as you think about buying your presents for the family, getting your groceries for the holiday dinner and attending holiday events.  If it wasn't for the bell most folks would walk right past the volunteers.

I volunteered to be a bell ringer for a few hours and ended up extending a few hours into an entire day.  I share this only because we had an incredible time.  It was cold & raining and we were situated next to the Christmas Trees, we rang the bell and handed out candy canes as people passed and said Merry Christmas.

One person came out of the store with two cups of hot chocolate, and said you looked cold and said I think what your doing is great.  I spent the rest of the day thinking how thoughtful this person was to not only give a donotion but to think about the people asking for the donation.  I thought about how many times I gave a donation went on my way.  I didn't take the time to say thank you for volunteering or to even ask the volunteer how they were doing.

As the evening grew on, still raining and cold we were joined by the Largent children.  5 yr old Olivia was the star, she belted out Joy to the world as only a 5 year old can, her sister Aubrey and brother Tyler handed out candy canes, the next generation of Bell Ringers!

I thought it didn't take much out of my day to volunteer and someone who is in need.  I know the kids didn't miss their games or TV and they went to bed knowing they helped the less fortunate.  That's a true Christmas Gift!

If you have a few hours in Shasta County their are plenty of places to go (530) 222-2207.

 Merry Christmas!

 The Largent Team

That is great. My family and I need to do something like that.  I think it would be great for my son, as well as for me.

3D Magical Snowman What a nice tribute to a great group, the Salvation Army! I try to put an handful of change into the bucket when I pass it.  I also try to give a smile and a 'Merry Christmas' to the bell ringer...so many people are caught up in the Christmas rush that they can't take a minute to do that.  P.S. most of the bell ringers in LV are needy people, earning their keep from the Salvation Army.
