It may be too late to send a package to a soldier (or anyone, for that matter!) and have it reach them by Christmas, but our troops appreciate care packages throughout the year!
Started in August 2003 by Sergeant Brian Horn, an Army Infantry Soldier with the 173rd Airborne Brigade while he was in the Kirkuk area of Iraq, to help care for his soldiers, AnySoldier.com is a great resource for anyone interested in sending a care package to a soldier, but may not have a name and address to do so. SGT Horn originally agreed to distribute packages that came to him with "Attn: Any Soldier" in his address to soldiers who didn't get mail and his generosity has since served 120,341
Service Members!
The project has expanded to include AnySailor.com, AnyMarine.com, AnyAirman.com, and AnyCoastGuard.com.
Simply visit the site to get wish lists straight from the troops themselves, as well where to send packages and when they are expected home.
Why not send a care packge today? Make a soldier's day! (Or a sailor, marine or airman!) Send them something they'd love to have from home! The website will also tell you how many times a specific service member's address has been requested, so you can look for someone who, perhaps, has not received a package yet. What a great system!

What a REALLY GREAT idea! Mind if I post a link to this from my "Anti-Stuff" post? Just think--instead of sending a gift to "Aunt Jane", send a care package to a soldier in Iraq! I'm doing that, right now...
Thank you for posting this, Maura! Happy Prosperous Holidays and New Year!
