Romo Good Will

Tony Romo's been taking some heat this past week for a stinker of a game turned in at home versus division rival Philadelphia in which his team, the Dallas Cowboys lost 10-6. While it was probably an injured thumb that caused many of his passes to be off target , many have speculated that his poor play should be attributed to Jessica Simpson being in attendance. I reckon that Simpson is a peace loving American and the Cowboys are still America's Team after all, right?

Not all is bad in Romo's world though. He's the NFL's 2nd highest rated passer, recently signed a big contract extension and 'hanging out' with the woman to the right isn't something most single males are likely to turn down..no harm no foul.

It's difficult to speculate how many pages of gossip you'd have to go through on a Google search to find it, but Tony Romo has donated $100,000 to his alma mater, Eastern Ilinois University- the same school that produced many of my family members. Associate Athletic Director, John Smith, said this was the largest one-time donation EIU athletics has received in his 11 years as an associate or assistant athletics director for development.

So the boy with the golden smile has has given the university unprecedented free publicity and the proceeds from the sales of his #17 Panther jersey AND made a huge donation to the school. "What was really neat about it was even though Tony is making his living through athletics, he is giving a portion of it to communications studies, which shows he is interested in the entire university," Smith said. "We are just appreciative and it's neat to see how he remembers us."

I'm sure plenty of athletes with millions donate tons of money annually to their universities- so this is no huge shock. But it's nice to see in a day and age where professional athletes are thought of as "ME" players, that some do think to give back and help others out. It's especially nice to see them keep their noses clean....if dating pretty girls is the worst thing on Mr. Romo, he's doing alright.

Yes he's a lucky guy, but I still hate the cowboys.

He hasnt quite reached the level of Tom Brady though.  When he graduates from Pop music princesses to internationa supermodels then he will have arrived.....  Ha!

Tony Romo reminds some of when Brady first came in the league. He seems to rough and tough. I have a feeling the Pats and Cowboys will meet again.

Merry Christmas !!!

Think he'll miss time? I think he'll be back for the NFC Championship game if not the division game....

Jim - Regarding TO, a high ankle sprain is a tough injury. I would find it hard to believe that he will be near 100% before the Superbowl if the Boys make it.

I think it's a 4-6 week injury for 'normal guy'. He's shown over his career to be significantly better with recovery than most...I'd say he needs 3-4 weeks tops. It'll have been 3 weeks by their first playoff game...4 weeks for the championship game-
