                                                   Hampstead Snow

Well it's the day before Winter starts and I have had it with all the snow we have had. We have had 3 storms in the past week.

As you can see, Monika's Ford Explorer is almost hidden from the snow bank. I do most of the snow removal by shovel. I did have Monika's son plow the driveway during Sunday's storm.

I enjoy shoveling as it gives me a good workout. I know I am burning calories but my back is starting to feel it. I noticed today that my forearms are getting tired and I can hardly raise my arms over my head. It is getting hard to throw the snow any higher than it is now.

It is supposed to get a little warmer this weekend but rain is in the forecast for Sunday's Patriots game. I wonder if it will be cold enough to snow. It can snow down there but not up here. We are about an hour and a half north of Foxborough, Ma. where the Patriots play.

Now my next big project is to remove the snow from my roof. It has been a while since I have had to do that. I do have a snow rake for the roof.  Next I will have to take the snow off the motor home. I am not looking forward to that. Come on February as we are heading to Florida for a week

Oh man...all that snow!!!  Lets hope we don't get anymore in the near future.

If we do maybe I'll help you shovel.

Jay, Ditch the shovel, its not good for anyone over 40 to shovel heavy snow.  Why do  you have to remove snow from your roof... Does it not have a pitch? we never did this in Boston or NY. Jennifer Festival blogged on this recently. The consensus was... leave it on the roof.. I'm worried about you Jay, you're living dangerously...

Merry Christmas to you and Monika!

Jay, if tomorrow is the first day of winter, what the heck have been having ......... LOL

You keep your shovel, and I will hang on to my Snow Blower.  That is enough of a workout for me :)

Jay, me and your twin will come shovel... looks like fun to me, but then I have this warped sense of fun! LOL

Oh my goodness, and winter is hardly upon you.  I think you need to plan a nice southern vacation.  Make it a month!

If you could package some of that up and overnight it to me that would be great..lol!  Just kidding!  I love snow but I hate dealing with it, thanks for reminding me.  I hope some of the mountainous areas near the Colorado basin looks like that.  We need it!

Jay - I am fed up with the snow already! I know we can get together and ship it all down to Linda S - She would be thrilled :) See you tomorrow.

Hey Jay - I'm with you about having more than enough snow this year, and winter isn't even here yet!!!!  Enough already!!  As Monika probably told you, I've been dealing with ice dams and that junky stuff - too much cold weather and no break.  I understand the temps for the next couple of days will be above freezing - maybe the snow will slide off the roof.... oh how I hope that happens at my house and yours.

We don't normally get this much snow all winter long in Portsmouth!  We're running out of places to put it already.

Finally, I'm warm now - down here in Florida for Christmas...... and it feels pretty nice, I have to say.  My dad thinks it's a bit cool here, he's been wearing a jacket when we go out, but not me!  I'm fine with my long sleeves and lightweight sweaters, and I'm warm.   Ahhhhhhhh!

I was a little concerned about flying out in yesterday's storm, but I did get out, albeit a little later than scheduled.

Monika, if I don't see another snowflake all winter it wouldn't make me sad.

Ginger, are you insinuating I am over 40 and an old man? LOL We have an overhang that is damming up with a lot of snow and ice. Our house was built in 1938 so it has a little heat loss. Plus that side of the house caught all of the northern winds that accumaleted a lot of snow drifts. We love to live dangerously.

George, Winter starts at 1:08 in the morning on Saturday. I'll use the plow from now on I think.

Georgina, I can see why, I wish we were there too.

Linda, this is not fun. it's awful. Trust me...

Rick, I don't think I could handle the heat and humidity in the summer. I used to live outside of Atlanta in the 70's but I was a lot younger then. LOL

Diane I'd love to go to Florida from December to the first of April. Someday maybe.

Renee, we have been lucky the last few years but thi sis ridiculous. Stay warm.

Bill, too bad we couldn't package it up and sell it. See ya at 11AM.

Ann, I just spent a few hours raking the snow off the roof where it looks like it is starting to dam up. I have a lot more to do and it is supposed to rain Sunday night and I need to get rid of the snow as it will get very heavy. I am real sure if it rains the snow won't slide off. Hopefuly Bear is getting the snow removed for you. Best of luck and stay warm.

Rick, you are too funny. It looks like rain for game time. Celts back on track. Pats to go 15-0

Jay... I am so jealous that you have all of that snow. I know it can be a pain when it comes to shoveling and driving, but I love it and miss it. I hope we get a lot down here this year.

Happy Holidays to both you and Monika...

Hi Jay & Moni,

Now ya' see!  This is what keeps us away from the New England area that we love so much - shovelling!  Ugh!  Good workout my hiney!  LOL!  Hope you can dig out for Christmas!

12/23/2007 10:18 AM by Pascack Valley Real Estate>> Lisa and Robert Hammerstein (Coldwell Banker)

Jeff you can have it my friend. A little is pretty a lot is not.

Lisa, Temps are rising and it's above freezing already. So looks like Christmas driving will be just fine.

Aziz, didn't you have some already a week or so ago?

12/23/2007 10:52 AM by Jay McGillicuddy~Real Estate Broker (Prudential Verani Realty)

Jay-You look great out there shoveling that snow while Monika does the camera work!  I can picture myself as a kid growing up in Chicago or as an adult in Germany and Colorado with all that snow.  I just dont miss it at all.  My son and I flew to Kauai for 2 days this week to play golf at Poipu Bay.  I much prefer the warmer weather!  Enjoy Florida in February and I hope you have great weather while you are there.  Aloha!

Guys - you obviously have friends there - why not relocate and go back to VISIT the snow??  We think it's been pretty rotten here this week in Raleigh... 50 as a high and rainy! Of course - we've had a drought so the rain isn't all that bad... I've never seen as much snow as you have in the pictures!  Thanks for sharing!

Hey Dave, I really enjoyed playing Poipu Bay back in '94. I saw the Grand Slam of Golf there and stood a few feet away from Greg Norman as he drew a 5 iron into 18 from 245 yards out. He stuck to within 3-4 feet for eagle. He is my age and I wish he was still playing. I think warmer climates are in my future.

Eleanor, 50 degrees would feel like summer to us right now. My step-mother is in Fla and we do have many friends whose homes we have sold that are in Fla now too. So, I gues swe have plenty of places to go to.
