Tonight was the night for Caroling in the Park.  This is an annual holiday event that takes place at Friendship Park in the Point Place neighborhood of Toledo.  The attendance was phenomenal, the children were singing like angels and the adults were enjoying the festivities as much as the children.

The Ottawa River Elementary School had its' choir in attendance singing carols - and they were just adorable!  They ranged in age from about 5 to 11 and each child had their own charisma.

Some were a little fidgety but that's to be expected.  Especially since they were the opening act for Santa's entrance!

As the carols were sung the audience was singing right along with the kids.  Young and old were in harmony.  In some places that would be considered a rarity.  But not in Point Place.  Around here we call it community!

One of the evening's highlights was the Master of Ceremonies - our very own Jerry Anderson.  Jerry is a news anchor on our local CBS affiliate, WTOL Channel 11.

Jerry has been the MC of this annual event several times and is always a treat to listen to.

And, for the record, Jerry is also an auctioneer!  And he can certainly work a crowd!

Thanks for hosting, Jerry!  Point Place certainly appreciates you!

As the evening continued it was apparent that the children were getting restless.  They were oh so anxious to see Santa!  After all, in the eyes of a child that's what this season is all about!  So it was no big surprise to see a very long line forming in anticipation of the entrance of that jolly old fella we lovingly call Santa!

For every year that I live in Point Place I learn more and more.  I learn about the meaning of community, the meaning of neighbors and the purpose of cooperation and mutual respect.  All of these things transcend age and social status to bring us together as one - as a community.

I love living in "The Point" and that's one of the reasons that I heartily recommend that my clients consider our area when they are looking for a home.  This area has some of the best prices on some truly nice homes.  Won't you come check us out?

Give me a call.  I'd love to prepare a "brag book" just for you!

Merry Christmas to ALL!

Carol...the kids look so festive!

We went nowhere today. It snowed all day and we got another foot! The boys had to shovel 3 times just to keep up!

I'm going to try fo some pictures tomorrow!

Hi Carol:  Thanks for such a festive post.  But, I think your post would be much better if you included a video of yourself singing Christmas Carols.  After all... that's what your first name means... Carol... a "song of joy."

Carol, What a fun event--for you and the children.  I don't blame them for getting restless, it's difficult waiting for Santa to arrive :)  I'm glad to hear you had a wonderful time in your community and a night of joy.

Hi Carol,
Children singing Christmas carols--there is nothing in the world sweeter than that!  My heart just melts and I want to hug every one of them.
A great community event celebrating this wonderful Christmas season.

Joan:  The kids were having a good time.  But they really wanted the cookies, hot chocolate and a minute or two with Santa.

Karen:  You do not want to hear me sing - trust me on that one!

Carole:  I got restless, too.  I am not big on being packed elbow to elbow in a room like that.  But all in all much fun was had.

Cynthia:  Some of the kids were quite funny while they were fidgeting around.  One little boy was doing everything but standing on his head.  Quite the comic!

Debbie:  Thanks for coming by!  Happy New Year to you as well!

Robert:  I am not a good singer - unless you are tone deaf and have a hearing deficit.  :)
