House For Sale? Need a Fresh Look For That Traditional Home? Use What You Have!
This very lovely, traditional home in Fairfield, Connecticut, needed a fresh look to appeal to a young family. Nestings Home Staging carefully edited the furnishings and curated the accessories. The Dining Room provides an example of how a space can be updated using items already in the house. No additional accessories were purchased.
Here are some before photos:
The room has great bones: wainscoting, wonderful chandelier, bay window, long neutral drapery panels, good art, and semi-formal furniture. After editing out extra side chairs, a small chest, and some family silver and fussy accessories, we shopped the rest of the house for "new" items to use. Here are some of the items we found:
Set of three hurricanes from the family room, which would have been removed anyway.
A Santo from the hallway.
A carved swan.
The blue lamp was already in the room, but we removed the chest.
Here are the results:
The hurricanes replaced the small red pot and brass candlesticks.
The Santo and blue lamp went on the sideboard.
The swan replaced the silver coffee service, allowing for an undistracted view to the grounds.
The cluttered alcove display shelves received a simple shot of color to draw the eye.
If your house is going on the market, sometimes there's no need to invest in lots of new accessories. Sometimes you may already have all you need. It just takes the expert eye of a professional Home Stager to give your house a fresh look.
