A Little Pregnant...

By

It is Saturday, we are ready to go home. But there is somebody trying to pull the door instead of pushing... happens every day. They guy just ventured in to find out the prices. He is from Canada, but lives in Jacksonville, but likes our beaches, and stays in the condo-hotel where we have our office – Fountain Beach Resort in Daytona Beach.

A Little PregnantHe saw something o the Internet, we discuss the prices, the overall market, and the conversation is quite casual. He told us that his brother from Canada likes the West Coast of Florida. He then told us that his brother bought several cheap condos and is renting them long term.

He told us that he put an offer on 13 condos with one deposit check for $10,000. His agent made copies of the check and submitted it with the offers. He then looked at us and said that it is important to have a good agent.

He said that there are very few of them. The problem with the rest is that they are too honest.

Wow, at least somebody considers us honest... even too honest...

I got all excited and said that there is no such thing as being too honest.

The guy lost interest in me and left.

He left and I kept thinking about what he said: being too honest.

Isn't it is like being a little pregnant?

I'm now aware that honesty comes in degrees.

One either is or isn't.

Thirteen offers with one check!  So his definition of a good agent is one who is not too honest?

Yep, same like with pregnancy. One is either is or isn't. Exactly my point. I simply never before had someone complaining about agents being too honest.

Gee, everybody has their own agenda (LOL)

Margaret - obviously, the gamut of problems with agents run from dishonest to too honest. Who could have thought?

Nice to know that the good agents are the dishonest ones.  I'm all for creativity and thinking outside the box to make a deal work but dishonesty, come on.

Interesting topic you chose to write about, Jon. I just recently argued with someone over something similar. In my world, there's black and white and then there's gray. Some people believe gray to be dishonest but I think gray is just gray. It's unclear. It hasn't been figured out yet. Maybe it's a little dishonest. Maybe it's a little pregnant. I don't know. I haven't lived in an absolute world since I was a little girl.

Great analogy Jon.  maybe he should hire an unlicensed agent.  LOL.  The sad thing is that he found at least one agent who will do this for him and he'll prob. find another.  There are bad eggs in every industry.

If ever their was a Red Flag waving so big and bold in front of you that was it. Your lucky he lost interest, otherwise you would have had to say, "sorry I have too many buyers to represent you right now". Good riddence to that guy.

Jill - life is never black and white, and yes, there is gray. And when we think that something , including honexty, is absolute, it isn't. Absolutely hinest person is a complete moron belonging to the Madhouse.

Compliments, even politeness are in the gray, as it is unlikely that every time we say "you look great today", we are 100% honest... I understand it.

this guy was obviously very gray... ;-)

Jon:  I am glad you did not choose to fool with becoming "a little pregnant."  It always is a good idea to "use protection."  Seriously, Jon... you make us proud, my friend.

Karen Anne - Oh, thank you. Even though I didn't do anything.

We were about tp leave the office, me and my wife. When he left, we look at each other and laughed. And then my wife joked that I just lost a customer.

She was right (as usual)
