Hay Bale

Could this be green fencing in Red Hook.  I went passed this farm several times, and I noticed the bales of hays at the edge of the farmland.  On my last trip I also noticed that they were stacked between post, and then it struck me could this be a form of green fencing in Red Hook?   I am sure those bales would remain intact until the crop was harvested.

Good point, Jennifer - if a critter were to get stuck in there, no damage as from a barbed wire fence.  Maybe you're on to something!!!!

That makes sense! I've seen the giant teddy bear sculptures - fencing seems like a good use.

Cool photo too - I like all the layers of colors.

Jennifer, well it is a fence no doubt about it as closely as the bales are together. They decorate some of them around here with spray paint like for Halloween.

Jennifer it could be, that is until the farm animals come around, and then it might come down pretty quickly.

Great idea!  If it isn't, it looks really nice.  I wonder how long it will last in that condition?

Jennifer,

Hay, hay, hay! You never know. Would keep out intruders and the animals would have to eat their way out. :)

I dunno, Jennifer!  I don't think this fence could keep Willie the Labradoodle from escaping that field!

Jennifer,

My reaction to this hay is that it reminds me of the bales of hay in Europe.  Most of the hay we see in the US is rectangular blocks.  This is beautiful, and it does look like fencing. A

Those bales of hay do look like they are serving a dual purpose, the temporary fence until they are utilized for their final purpose.

Why not kill two birds with one stone, right? I once spray painted my website on the face of some haybales and had a farmer place them on a major highway when a huge golf tournament was in town. It was fun!
