Listen to the Showing Instructions!!!

Listen to the Showing Instructions!!!

OK, people this did not happen to me or my listing, but it is funny and I just had to share!  It did happen to an agent in my office, at his listing.

This agent had some specific instructions on his new listing.  It just went on the market on Friday, and it is in a great price point so they were anticipating a lot of showings.  The restrictions they had on showings was "no showings after 6:00".  Seems simple enough to follow.

A showing was scheduled for 5:15-6:00, so the homeowners left and came home a little after 6:00.  While they were out they hit a local Happy Hour and were relaxing with a few drinks.  There had been a lot of showings during the day, so they were enjoying the fact that this was the last showing of the day and they would be able to go home and chill for the night.  Well, the "Happy Hour" made them both feel quite "Happy" with each other.  When they got home they proceeded to the bedroom, where they could express their "Happiness" with each other.

You guessed it...  an agent shows up at the house at 7:00, rings and enters the home with her client and the client's 8 year old daughter.  The homeowners were scrambling to get their clothes on as the agent was showing the home.  I am dying laughing thinking about being busted by strangers in my own home, and how mortified they must have felt.  However, this really wasn't too funny to these homeowners.

How terrible of this agent to show this property when it had specified "No showings after 6:00".  The agent clearly did not pay attention and decided to proceed without any regard for these homeowners wishes.

I think it makes for a great illustration to "Listen to the Showing Instructions!!!"  You don't know the homeowners reasoning behind the restrictions!

Oh Karen...I have to say that is certainly NOT funny in the least.  I hope the listing agent did not get any flack on that!

Oh, that is not acceptable to show up and enter someones house 1 hour after showing time has ended. That is a good way to get shot in some areas. Owners need to have a secondary locking system like one of those bars that mounts under the doorknob and runs down to the floor.

I would have her head on a platter.  Absolutely NO excuse for the impossition.

While I do see the humor, it is agents like this one that gives our Profession a black eye!

Karin...

I often have clients that suddenly want to see this house or that ... but I tell them that I must review the showing instruction before we do anything!

Agents that don't read showing instructions - and follow them - can be fined and they should be. That's not a place any seller wants to be in - OMG.

Karin~ Regardless of the showing instructions, showing up an HOUR after your set showing time is inconsiderate.

Not good... But is funny, Glad they did not get a peek show for the 8 year old!  I had an embarrassing showing once when a school teach told me to go and show without the 24 hour notice when I called her just before school started because no body would be home... Well, she was wrong, he teen age son and his girlfriend decided to skip school and have some mid morninng delight... We walked in on them needless to say it was a red faced morning!
