I used to occasionally put up a post about the growth in traffic to ActiveRain, but I haven't done so in a few months.  Just been way too busy.  But after seeing what is happening the last couple days I thought I had to share.

Yesterday alone, ActiveRain.com had a record of 8,834 unique visitors, viewing a total of 183,480 pages and generating slightly over a million hits on our servers.  As of 8:00 are this morning we are 25% over the pace from yesterday so unless our servers crash we should have our first day over 10k visitors.

Where is this traffic coming from?  Primarily off of search engines, which accounted for about 55% of our traffic, other sites being about 15% and the remaining 30% is from returning visitors/members.  Right now Google is sending 67.1%, Yahoo 16.2%, AOL 6.2% and MSN 4.7%.  This is an interesting switch from previous months where Google accounted for over 80% of our traffic, and is resulting from more presence in the other search engines.  What does this mean for members?  Well lots of consumers are hitting this site and finding your information...

Other interesting stats, the average visit to this site is hovering right around 12 minutes with about 10% of all visits lasting over a half an hour.  Our top referring sites in the last month have been Inman.com, Realtor.org and TimothyClineRealty.com accounting for about 2k visits.  Localism.com which we put up just the other week and is still several months from official launch got over 400 visits yesterday.

Thanks to all our members for helping make the ActiveRain Real Estate Network a wild success, and we hope it's helping your business.

Active Rain is the neatest thing since sliced bread!

Quite honestly, I can't remember how I found it on the internet in July, but it's been a total pleasure ever since.

Just wish I had more hours in the day to read more..... AR does everything else in Real Estate, can you make the days longer too?  :)

Yeah I could use more hours in the day to, I think I've probably averaged 80 hour weeks for the last 6 months.

The stat about the customers staying 30 mins or more is the interesting one to me.

That's pretty sticky.

The "Google, Yahoo, MSN" stats are about what Homefinders.com gets over time.

This growth is amazing.  Congratulation and "job well done".

Matt,

Wow!  And yet I'm not surprised....I get Google Alerts about Home Staging e-mailed to me and the majority of the information comes from AR!

Thank you for creating such a wonderful 'tool' - not only does it help us to market, but the support and information that is shared here has helped me to grow, both as a business and a businessperson.

Matt,

I try to stay up on everything web and real estate related, but this one I had a question about:

Why does http://timothyclinerealty.com/ realty refer so many through their site here?

I took at look at TimothyClineRealty.com  and have the same question as Craig Bartels... I understand Inman and Realtor.org but the volumen of referrals coming from this site confused me...???   Can you shed some light on that for us?

Excellent job Matt --- hope you get some major kudos from your management in 2007 --- you'll definitely get good words from us!  Many thanks!

01/03/2007 07:14 PM by joanne Douglas (Terrie O'Connor Realtors)

I also was curious like Craig was.

What's the story with www.timothyclinerealty.com ?  I didn't see a link any where on the site during my quick visit.  I also didn't see a link on www.Realtor.org

Thank you for providing such a good site.

01/03/2007 07:17 PM by Tim Maitski (HomeAtlanta.com)

Not sure about the TimothyClineRealty.com but it's showing high in our referral logs.  Realtor.org has written about us or mentioned us a couple times:

http://www.realtor.org/webintell.nsf/Featured?OpenView
http://www.realtor.org/rmomag.NSF/pages/AskMrInternet200701?OpenDocument

I've seen one or two other articles in the past but can't find those.

Now I'm wondering how many hits TimothyClineRealty.com  is going to get...

01/03/2007 08:31 PM by Jay & Francy Thompson (Thompson's Realty)

OBVIOUSLY WE ALREADY GET A LOT OF HITS,  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Now maybe some of you will understand my gripe about 400 points for home page link.  Not all homepages are equal.

01/03/2007 08:48 PM by David Kyle, Charlotte SEO (Charlotte Internet Marketing SEM Adwords)

My personal web site has been rising up in the Google searches.  Matt, is this a side effect of AR?  Just curious.

Chris wrote>>The stat about the customers staying 30 mins or more is the interesting one to me.

That's pretty sticky. <<snip

I think they stay because there is something to READ here -- profound stuff along with fun stuff.  I am so impressed with the writing from busy people.  It is not all about points!  It is about thinking, challenging, taking time to write it the first time, then taking time to read it and add more.   Many times, THEY is us!

01/03/2007 09:20 PM by JudyAnn Lorenz, PREVA (Bar JD Communications)

Holy Moly Matt!! The network is really starting to grow some ground (pun intended)! This network has become an asset for me and I'm many others!!

Thanks Matt, what incredible growth.  It is a full blown storm.  And localism hasn't even begun.  The clouds are just forming.  Thanks for all your efforts.

01/03/2007 10:54 PM by Keith Jeppson - Salt Lake City Real Estate (Keller Williams Utah Realty)

I have been playing around with Localism.com and I like it.  Looks good!  The stats look great and something that you can write home to mom about.. Or heck - just bring it to Inman.

01/03/2007 11:20 PM by Christine Forgione - Associate Broker (PCA Realty, Inc.)

Maybe I'm overanalyzing, but I'm curious how long the 70% from search engines and other sites stay on the site versus the 30% who are returns/members. Are new visitors able to find their way around the site easily and find useful info, or are the visit times skewed by some who spend hours at a time reading and commenting?

01/04/2007 01:26 AM by John Novak - Las Vegas and Henderson NV Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty The Marketplace)

John: I don't think I have a way to readily pull that stat from the webstats tool that we use, but I'll play around with it to see what I can come up with.

01/04/2007 01:35 AM by Matt Heaton (ActiveRain Corp.)

This is great information.  One, it shows that people don't just use "Google" these days though the term has been added to the dictionary.  Two is shows that even though most markets are down, people are still buying and selling and looking for help!
