Alameda Animal Shelter
Alameda Animal Shelter’s mission is to keep Alameda a safe clean environment for you and your pet, provide excellent care for the animals at our shelter and re-home adoptable and domestic animals directly or through rescue organizations. The Shelter is operated by the Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter. The Shelter is located at 1590 Fortmann Way, in Alameda and is open Wednesdays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, Thursday to Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The phone number is 510-337-8586.
Animal adoption is an important part of what the Alameda Animal Shelter offers. The Alameda Animal Shelter has cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and rabbits for adoption. Occasionally birds, hamsters, guinea pigs and rats are also available for adoption.
Since California requires all cats and dogs be spayed or neutered prior toadoption the Alameda Animal Shelter will add the spay and neuter fee to the adoption fee. When cats, dogs and rabbits are adopted the pet will come with a free health examination certificate. This entitles your pet to be examined by a veterinarian at no cost to you.
The Alameda Animal Shelter’s current adoption fees:
$42 Cats, kittens, dogs and puppies
$10 Rabbits and birds
$10 Guinea pigs
$10 Hamsters and rats
Spay and Neuter fees;
The Alameda Animal Shelter reminds everyone that all cats and dogs four months of age and older, living in the City of Alameda, are required to be licenses.
