PORT ST. LUCIE - Port St. Lucie City Council members are being told by the Economic Development Council to set aside time Jan. 8 for an announcement.  The Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County has moved its monthly luncheon meeting to Tradition Town Hall.  They expect a large audience for an announcement.

The rumbling is that the Valencia, Calif.-based Alfred E. Mann Foundation, a biotechnology research foundation, is going to follow the eastern arch of Mann Research Center to Port St. Lucie.

The Mann Research Center has entered into a contract with Core Communities to purchase 22 acres at the Florida Center for Innovation at Tradition located just south of Tradition blvd.

Larry Pelton, the president of the development council, said Friday the move was made because they had outgrown the Schreiber Conference Center at IRCC. But he declined to discuss the announcement.

This just adds to the optomisum regarding the real estate in the South West Port Saint Lucie area.  Since the shops have opened more and more buyers are seeking a home west of I-95 in Port Saint Lucie.  This could be an important announcement.
