Dryer Vent - Virginia Beach Home Inspection "Pic of the Day"

By
Home Inspector with Safe House Property Inspections

This Virginia Beach home inspection had a real interesting crawlspace. The dryer vent terminated in the crawlspace and created quite a mess. You have a few issues with this setup. Moisture being blown into the crawl can cause mold issues, and all this dryer lint can also be a fire hazard.

dryer venting into crawlspace

Just an example of the things your Virginia Beach home inspector is looking for during your home inspection in Hampton Roads.

Troy ~ Wow! I've seen that situation in many, many of the condo's and townhomes here in Pagosa. When many of these were built back in the '70's, I think, the thought of proper ventilation for the dryer vents, was the last thing those builders were thinking about. (If at all). By the looks of this pic, even though I'm not an Inspector and if this was in Pagosa, I would guesstimate that to be an accumulation of about 8-12 years. Is that R-11 in the floors?
