Motivational Power Quote

When You Make a Mistake Admit it and Move On

“Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes.

It is best to admit them quickly and

get on with improving your other innovations.”

Steve Job, Apple Co Founder

As I see it . . . . . . .

When you make a mistake admit it and move on

One of the worst things that you can do is to try to cover up a mistake. A mistake that’s not attended to seems to grow legs and take on a life of their own.

The mistakes that we try to sweep under the rug and try to cover up can have an adverse affect on our thinking, our time and our resources. We will spend (waste) far more time trying to cover up a mistake them we would in admitting it, dealing with it and moving on.

Mistakes are no pleasant to make or to admit it, in reality we all make them. If you’re pushing you business or expanding you customer base your stretching your business to a new levels and mistakes happen.

Never allow a mistake to linger, admit the mistake as soon as you can and deal with the condition.

Mistakes are part of the business environment and part of life. When you make a mistake admit it and move on.

Another way of saying honesty is the best policy. The truth will set you free.

Lou,

This is a strategy that I wish politicians would learn. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting though.

Good morning Lou,

Mistakes are going to happen! Take responsibility for them, admit to them, learn from them and move on!! You are right if you try and sweep mistakes under the rug and not deal with them..they take on a life of their own! Not smart!!

Good morning Lou, glad Kathy referred to your post and yes, take responsibility, learn something and move forward because if you don't deal own them, you are bound to repeat them.

Seems like a common sense thing to do.  Seems like it wold be so easy.  But why do we find it hard to do?

Very timely, just this week my husband insisted I had some papers he needed. I told him I recall giving them to him, however rechecked my files and knew for sure I did not have them. He was adamant I had them, so I walked away and suggested he clean his office. About 5 minutes later I heard a humble "I found them". Oh, and how I wanted to rub that in...but I moved on with a smile on my face.

Lou:

Another important tip from you.  Thanks.  The easiest way to get beyond a mistake is to own it.  Covering up just makes things worse.  Admit the mistake and move on, as Steve Jobs said.

Thanks for your encouragement.  Sometimes we let our mistakes defeat us instead of teach us.

That's a great quote, Lou.  It is so true.  A mistake is one way of not doing things again.  It makes the right way easier to see.  Admit it and move on.  Good job.
