Lightening And Hail Coming To Mission Viejo

Today is not a good day to be outside. Mission Viejo and Southern California will be experiencing a major weather system. Rain, lightening, hail will cause havoc on the roads and in communities, so knowing what to do can be the difference between safety and damage.

Clearly the best thing to do is move your pets inside and put vehicles in the garage...then light a fire and read a good book by the fire.

Oh if we could only do this.

But if you are going to be out and about....be prepared. Drive slowly! Be ready to pull over and seek shelter if a sudden deluge comes upon you. This is not the time to "tough it out." Fools continue to drive 70 miles per hour down a freeway when the rain is coming down in buckets.

If you are headed to the local mountains, bring chains and allow plenty of time. Southern California does not see tornadoes very often, but those water spouts are not curiosity items, they are dangerous and you need to stay away from them.

Learn more about what you can do to protect yourself and your family from these types of severe weather events at The National Weather Service website.

Today is not a good day to be out looking for a new Mission Viejo home, but the one great thing about our area is that 80 degree weather is just around the corner. Start your Orange County Real Estate search here...and let us know which sunny day you'd like to see some homes. :)

Karen, I drove though a major hail storm a few years back and that was not fun.  Good Luck and stay safe.

I haven't seen the weather for your area but sure hope that yesterday was better than the possibilities that were presenting themselves.
