Blogging, "Save the cheerleader, save the world"

By
Real Estate Agent with HER Realtors

I am a fan of the TV show 'Heroes'... I don't know why. I have never been a fan of comic books or super heroes....

Bloggers: Do you ever feel like you are being a cheerleader as a blogger?  Is that what real estate blogging is about for you? Cheerleading is positive.  Cheerleaders were pretty and popular in school. If someone wanted to accuse you of being a cheerleader based on your blogging on ActiveRain or on another blog what could people accuse you of being a cheerleader for:

Your city?

The NAR?

ActiveRain.com?

A Blogging platform or social network?

Your brokerage or brand?

Doom and Gloom?

Yourself?

The American Dream?

The real estate industry?

Your Clients?

Something much, much bigger?

If I had a nickel for every time someone in my household said "save the cheerleader, save the world"....

I am a cheerleader for my town and for cheerleaders doing "the scorpion" on mountain tops.

Scorpion on Camelback Mountain

Jay loves that show and I've seen it a few times but I really don't follow it.

I'm a cheer leader for the industry or so my students in my ethics classes think.

Moniika... it is so hard to follow.  I need to rewatch the first season.  I did not start watching it in the beginning. As a trainer don't you have to be?

Missy were you a cheerleader?  I know at least one of your daughters is...   Green and White?  Spartans?

I like heroes but never really thought about being a cheerleader but I guess it does make sense.

Maureen, OK I have to admit I first read the post because I like the show too... Your analogy though is great! We are cheerleaders and while I know I don't look good in a mini-skirt I am still cheering. Hopefully they can say we cheer for them (our clients) and our communities. By doing this we will never have to cheer for ourselves, they will do it for us.

I must broaden my concept of "cheerleader"....  Cute and perky just never worked for me.... :-)  ... However if I change the definition to "believes in" ....   "supports" .....  "stands up for"..... OK, that could work.

Gee, Maureen, I was never a cheerleader - I played piccolo in the marching band!  It's a lot of the same thing, doing my part (it was the "Stars and Stripes Forever", which has a wonderful piccolo part) bringing the team onto the field.  And I guess, like playing the piccolo, I'm doing this for the fun of it.  Cute post.

Cheryl Your response helps ME to understand ...  Frances wrote "What inspires you?" At a meeting of the Columbus Social Media Cafe one of the bloggers used the word, "cheerleader."   Male 20-something .... I just could not picture him in a little pleated skrit carrying pom poms... or really when I read his blog cheerleader was  not a word that  sprang to mind.... I had Stephens idea...

Since starting my first blog "Columbus Best Blog" the RT blog that is named "Discover Columbus" now I have wondered about being too positve, ignoring bad news, just blogging about "Best" and positive stuff, if that was wrong in some way... Looking at non real estate blogs and how snarky and edgy they were.. I've worried since the begiinning if you try to stay positive if you come off less than trasparent to readers.

Thanks all for the comments.  Merry Christmas.

I too am a cheerleader for many different categories.  I am not a negative blogger, which does seem to be the case for lots of popular blogs.  Does negative energy feed on itself?  Seems like many of the most commented blogs are not cheerleaders. Oh well.  Snarky and edgy just isn't my style.

One other comment- I guess I don't want to attract people who like snarky and edgy, I would like the cheerleader clients too!

Maureen

I like your post. I like the TV show myself, but I also agree with you on the concept of post. I am a cheerleader for my clients first, my community 2nd, my company 3rd, and then myself. Keep up your great post.
