Part Six of My Story: Cleveland-NYC-Cleveland

Home Stager with Shaken...with a Twist 216.633.2092

Abe was on a "high" over the next few months..........the presentation he did for the group of students and looking forward to an "encore performance" in Florida in the spring, seemed to bring new life into his soul...........unfortunately, not into his body.

Several times on our visits, he would go through his material, editing some things, adding something new that he thought the next group of students might enjoy and learn from........  It brought me so much joy watching the "master of lighting" so enthused about wanting to share his knowledge.

Our late night phone calls became more frequent and lasted much longer............Abe wasn't sleeping much............I knew why, he blamed it on his medication.  The calls were much different now.........I talked, he listened............he asked questions, I answered.  One comment he made sticks with me to today............"I like the rhythm you brought into my life".................interesting to say the least.  Later I found out he said the same thing to LaVerne many years ago, shortly after she started working with him in his office.

LaVerne is still running his office and trying to spend more time at the apartment with Abe.  Donna's visits to New York become more frequent.  One night when I was visiting he said "you look tired, why don't you just stay here tonight"...............I stayed.  Neither of us talked, we both the silence.........but so much was being said.....................

"Are you enjoying the City all decorated for Christmas?"................"It's one of my favorite things about the City Abe"....................."Mine too, and I'm a Jewish boy, wish I could get out there to see it"............."Close your eyes Abe, you'll see it".

"I thought I'd stop over on Tuesday for a visit"...................."You've been working hard, stay home and relax on your day off"................."You sure?"..............."I'm sure, maybe next week".  We had this same conversation for several months.

April 24, 1997

"Roger, it's Donna.................."

The day a personal "light" in my life was extinguished.

April 28, 1997

At 10 o'clock p.m. the lights at Rockefeller Center and the Empire State Building were turned off for one hour in honor of Abe Feder.

Good morning Roger. I don't really have words for what I am feeling. Your voice is so strong and so clear and I'm sure Abe flourished in your light as much as you did in his. Loss never goes away, and I am sorry for yours.

You're the best BARFF, you've done this one before, thanks.

That was such an amazing compliment coming from Abe, and yours is also quite touching Dorie, thanks so much.

Thanks Larry and Sheila, the memories will be with me forever.

Probably never Clint, I wouldn't know where to begin.  Thank you sir.

My pleasure Miss Joni, thank you for reading it.  You know I've got more stories.

Wow, thanks Joanna, one more to go and it's over.  I appreciate your kind words.

Yes he was Anna, very early on in his career, then he moved on to much bigger projects.  Thank you.

Maybe I need a new "life" Q Man.....................thank you kind sir.

Roger ~~ I said it before... it is a screenplay,, and it is just so cool that you were able to know such a man.. and he was lucky to have known you.

BTW ~~ I thought  you said it was seven parts? or is that the chapter that tells us you were found? and it will be a best seller...???

Thanks Janis, glad you enjoyed the series.  There is a Part Seven and I will be posting it tomorrow.  It sort of wraps everything up nicely.  Hope you're not too disappointed, I wasn't "found" and there is no "best seller"............but such a nice thought.

I think when you first ran this series is when I first starting reading your blog.  Your time with Abe is something not many experience.  I'm so glad you shared it again!

Well get busy Janis................LOL.

The most amazing thing about my friendship with Abe is the fact that we met once when they came in for dinner, and the next time I saw him or talked to him was when he was in the hospital and asked to see me.  I'm glad you enjoyed the series Sharon..............thanks for being supportive again.

It sounds like Abe had an incredible life and how fitting he was honored in this way. He was also fortunate to have you in his life.

Roger, my that was a great story, but alas a sad ending.  You truly brought light and sunshine into Abe's life and being such a great friend. What more could one ask.  God bless you Roger for being you!

Roger, unfortunately some peoples' bodies can't last long enough to match the spirit and others' spirits leave them much sooner than their bodies.  Your friend Abe had spirit and so do you.

It's Sunday morning - April 22nd. I am deeply moved by this lovely story and your mastery at bringing to life for us. You must write this book Roger. I hope the memories this dredges up are sweet ones for you --- sometimes reliving these moments can be very difficult. I know you must miss Abe, but how lucky to have seen "his light" shine. :)

Very moving story Donna...........part seven sort of wraps it all up, this is really the end.

So right Sally and David..........he did light the way.

And I was fortunate to have him Tammie, thanks so much.

Thanks Rebecca, Abe was such a joy to spend time with, quite a character.  I feel very fortunate.

Like you can help him get back to sleep...........that's funny Ellen.  Thanks for the compliment.

That he did Mona, too bad his body couldn't last longer, the spirit was there.  Thanks so much. It

It was difficult at times Debb, but the joy it brought me far out weighed those times.  It was such a wonderful experience for me.  The awards ceremony and the day he saw his Fifth Avenue apartment after I got it ready to sell were the best memories of all.  As far as writing a book, I wouldn't know where to begin, but thank you for your kind compliments.
