Now if your blogs are not really written for local residents of where you live this does not make sense. If you write a lot of localism's and if you follow Bryan's advice all results should be on the upside with no apparent downside.

Reviews of products and services is one of the recommended types of blogs to write. It's just like a post of Yelp with the added value of being longer and hosted on your website. When you write a review or describe a local business in some detail, you should -- and can -- get more than just the blog. What you really want is to connect with the owner or manager (preferably both) of that business. Here's how you do that...
1) Visit The Store or Business
Get to know the owner and actually buy their products or use their services. You have to be honest and write about what is really good. Faking it will backfire!
2) Write The Blog
Write a story about the product or service and the experience. Why was it good? Why is it better or more useful than other similar things nearby. Don't bad mouth the competition - stay positive! The review should be positive but not gushing. Keep it simple and relatively short (2-3 paragraphs). Make sure the keywords and title aling to the best searches for the business and product/service.
3) Post The Blog And Share
When the blog is done, post it and tweet it. If you know the owners email, Facebook, or other account then send a message with your review. Let them know you really liked their products or services.
4) Return To The Business
You need to let them know you wrote the article. Follow up with a personal visit. My suggestion is that you build the relationship just as you would with a client. They may refer business to you or other perks. Just make sure you keep the online world connected with the real world.
