Thanks to my news alerts, I found an idea I thought I'd share. When looking around online, if you run across a politician's website that is talking about the subprime mortgage meltdown, post a comment with a backlink or two to your own site. These sites are getting a lot of traffic... let that pay for you.

That is a great idea.  When you pick the best BLOG posts that actually contain some of the same keywords that are on YOUR landing page you pick as a hypertext link, that will help increase your rankings. 

Tip: Make sure not to use the same exact URL for every post.  Get some deep linking going and post to various related BLOGs using different landing pages on your site, not just the home page.  This will look more natural to the search engines.  Using the same links tends to give you a "spammy," unwanted SEO effect/outcome.
