Yesterday evening a friend and I went in search of Christmas Lights in Seattle.  This year we decided to follow KOMO TV's (channel 4) Parade of Lights suggestions for seeing spectacular Christmas Lights.  The weather was great on this first full day of winter, the skies cleared from rain during the day, and the almost full moon made an appearance.  We picked up Eggnog Shakes at Tully's to add to the Christmas Cheer, yum!

We used the list I had made from KOMO TV's online list to cover the key homes with wonderful Christmas Lights, and while driving to each destination we discovered many other beautiful displays.  We covered a wide area beginning in Normandy Park

Christmas Lights in Normandy Park with a full moon!

then over to West Seattle,

Christmas in West Seattle on Beach Dr

up to Queen Anne, across the bridge to Wallingford (Santa was on the porch at this house!)

Christmas Lights in Wallingford - Santa was at this home!

and then across Lake Washington to Bellevue

Christmas Lights in Bellevue

to see more Lights.  In Bellevue we found a car load of Christmas Light Seekers touring in a limo at this house!  It was such a fun adventure!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Hi Rich - Yes it was and these Christmas Lights are really over-the-top!  It's incredible how much time, effort, creativity and electricity these homeowners put into their displays!

Hi Michael - Thank you, I love Christmas Lights and often take long detours to find them.

What great shots Deborah! I love Seattle and your pictorials from around the city - I plan on returning more often to see more. Unfortunately my passport ran out, so I won't be able to visit until I get a new one - it really makes me smile to see the city images!

It's truly amazing how much effort some people put into decorating their homes for our viewing pleasure.  We have one homeowner in Wenatchee that went to the trouble of setting up a syncronized light/music show.  It was a hoot!  Have you ever heard of this being done elsewhere?

12/27/2007 11:57 PM by Carol Williams Wenatchee Real Estate (Willinger Real Estate)

Hi Carol - Wow that must have been an amazing show!  The KOMO TYV link I think does have a home on it that is set up like that...but it must not have been in the areas I was looking see that night.  There was a few years ago a home with lights synchronized to music from the Trans Siberia Orchestra that was making the rounds on the Internet...I was sent it a couple of times, it was amazing!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Carol from Wenatchee!  :  )

Wow, now that is some serious energy usage indeed, I wonder how many thousands of dollars they could save over the course of the season by using LED lights for the same purpose, I bet the cost savings would be huge, maybe they might put up even more lights, as if that would even be possible- Lance

01/07/2008 02:36 AM by Lance Winslow (The Car Wash Guy)

Hi Lance, one of the local new-stations did a story about the energy use for the Christmas lights, and how it might be considered to be excessive energy use.  The news report did suggest the new LED lights (and some of the houses on KOMO's Parade of Lights webpage are using the LEDs) would be a better choice than the regular kind.  People interviewed for the report all said that the energy use was OK by them since it is done only a small part of the year, and everybody enjoyed both seeing them and sharing them.  I wonder if any can be seen from the planes flying overhead!
