Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 3 of 4

google

Google has just been very fascinating with their logos throughout the holidays, that's if you have been paying attention. I keep stating that we could learn so much from this. Some of you had replied with previous comments that you don't like change and that you don't see how it could help. Let's take a quick look at this.

Why possibly change up your logo or web site?

  • Keeping it active. Google actually likes to see change. When was the last time that you actually changed your web site, even if it was a little change.
  • If anything, it keeps people on their toes and could get them to keep coming back to you, expecting change or wanting to see what you have done differently.

Overall, there are many ways of Marketing & Branding yourself. Knowing the difference is key and could not only help with attracting new clients, but help you in the search rankings.

As you can see, Google is still not finished with their logo for the holidays. It appears that they still have a 5th logo that will lead into Christmas Day. Up top is number 4 and as you can see, they have opened the jar letting something out. Can anyone guess what tomorrows final product will look like?  This is what they have so far.

Conclusion :  Again, what can we learn from this?  How do you market and brand yourself?  Do you keep doing the same thing?  Change it up?  We definitely know that marketing should be in your business plan every year. But do you know that marketing and branding are two different things?  Do you confuse one with the other?  This is just my opinion, but this could be a good read. Marketing & Branding..... Are they one in the same or different?

Here are some of Google's changes throughout the holidays and their unique way of marketing their new images. I have found most to be very creative and relating to the certain holidays surrounding these changes. What do you think about their marketing?

CHARLIE.....  yes, I think it's been a lot of fun to watch. Besides, I think that there are some good lessons to learn from this also.

MISSY..... cool...  ;o)  Colleen on day one got the ribbon part correct. But they haven't stopped. It looks like a total of 5 parts, 5 different logos progressing. I wonder what they will come up with for New Years.

DEBE....  my pleasure and happy holidays to you too.

This has been a fun series, Jeff. Along with some good pointers to keep in mind. Change is good, in Google's eye.

Have a great holiday with your little one.
