I work on a lake and by the very nature of selling lake homes we choose to be open on weekends when many people are visiting Lake Sinclair and want to see property.  And our office hours Monday to Saturday at 9 to 5.  But on Sunday you will have to wait until 1 p.m. for us to open up.

Sunday mornings are a time I choose to give.  I give them to a wonderful group of 3rd to 5th grade children.  And every other weekend when my Donald isn't working he is right there to help me.  Each week I have 7 to 10 kids in my class and they are always eager to learn and ask great questions.  I've been teaching (not always the same age group) children at First Baptist Church for 21 years now. 

Today was another of those mornings that makes the time I put into it all worth it.  At the end of churchs service one of my kids (yes, I claim them all) joined the church and will soon be Baptized.  I always well up with tears when that happens.  Over the years I have seen countless children open their hearts to Jesus.  Not long ago I had a child look up at me and say "you teached my mommy".  That was eye opening to the number of years I've been teaching. 

So I will be very happy to work with you on a Sunday, but it will have to be after the time that I've already committed to a group of children that are near and dear to my heart.  And if you give some of your time to children I promise it will be filled with rewards.  I have been amazed at some of the wonderful, kind and loving adults that used to be one of "my kids".

Tammy, I will wait. God's work comes first.  I choose to be Baptized again in my early 50's.  Yes, full submersion. Reading this brought vivid memories of that moment as an adult.  It had so much more meaning and significance to me!  The impact you have on the kids can never be measured.  Just know, it's BIG!

Kathleen- thank you.  One of my best ever moments was when a former student who is now a nurse went on a mission trip to Haiti after the earthquake there.  She was not only using her skills, but sharing God's love with those she helped.  I was so proud to know her.
