Alert about Frontline Plus....

Hi Folks, I recently found out and very painfully for my cocker spaniel, Mitzi, that frontline plus has caused some real issues with both cats and dogs. Cats have seemed the most affected.

If your pet has started losing hair and is itching and you are using frontline plus, I would suggest you immediately stop using this product.

For whatever reason , cats and some breeds of dogs appear to be highly allergic to this anti flea remedy.

What I don't know if it is what set up Mitzi for staph infection of her hair follicles and I will never know for sure.

I do know the last time I used it she broke out in sores all over her body.

What I also found out is that this remedy actually stays in the system for longer than 4 weeks and goes deep into the hair glands.

I have taken all of my pets off of it after witnessing what happened to Mitzi. I am now very selective in giving them anything like this in the future. What this did was have me doing investigative work on the auto immune systems issues we are seeing more and more of in our animals. It is a combination of things including but not limited to over vaccinations, commercial foods and flea products.

I am not stating this actually caused all of her issues, but I believe was an influence on her issues. After speaking with several cat owners whose cats lost hair and were itching and scratching until they bled and after taking them off the frontline grew their hair back and did not have any further symptoms months or years after the fact is a wake up call and alert.

I have ran into a few other dog owners who has issues.

The foods has to do with the additives and preservatives and remember much of the commercial food uses road kill and rendered meat gathered from euthanized animals.

Just something to think about and I would encourage you to do your own investigations. I am really re thinking what i feed my dogs as well as the vaccinations. Unfortunateley, some states require rabies yearly, others every 2 or 3 yrs .

It is thought that this is unnecessary especially after the first couple of innoculations as the titers taken on select animals show they are protected against the disease. But since, it is humans that is being protected against rabies, many states require the repeat frequencies of the rabies vaccination.

It has been reported that some dogs have had anxiety attacks of sorts within 24 hours of vaccinations as well as aggressive episodes and seizures. I understand , on rare occasions, even death. We are bombarding their immune system with so much that there is a breakdown of sorts that is opening them up to all kind of auto immune diseases including but not limited to cancers and massive skin issues and infections.

We are lulled into thinking we are doing what is right for our pets but in fact we are doing just the opposite.

Just like the human health field which now produces millions of dollars to the corporate giants and has fed us so much lies and deception, so has the pet food industry and pet pharmaceuticals has done the same.

I worked in the medical field for 30 yrs in radiology and I witnessed a lot.

All I can tell you is that I have had pets all my life. I cannot believe the complications I have seen within the last 10 yrs that I never dealt with growing up around my pets.

There are some really great veterinarians out there and there are some who are charlatans.

Do your own research.

Not even just charlatans but unaware.  It's the same with doctors sometimes.  You have to be very careful and make sure you do your own research about everything.  Always.  It's scary.  Doctors said that aspertame was safe... and yet many people have suffered chronic pain syndrome due to aspertame poisoning.  So always, always do your own research!

Hi Chris, I wish I could say many were unaware but many did know about various issues and did not report it.  Granted there were those who were unaware and were in good faith giving out meds they thought would help.

Well, I have to say after what I saw going on in the medical field the last years I was in it and then saw some things that happened afterwards as well as with the pet food recalls etc has caused me to stop and evaluate a lot of things.

A lot of cover ups and mis management. I have taken your motto "Trust No One" as well,,, lol.....

Our society is used to quick fixes without the realization of the permanent damage down the road. That was evident with the nsaids...I knew people who popped them like candy and I kept telling them you better be backing off doing that ...their response was their doctor stated they were safe and they were not worried......i have not seen some of them for a few years but I often wonder how their liver and kidneys are holding up...

Thank you for that information. I do plenty of research about what I give my pets, and I am also lucky enough to have an excellent Vet who always tells the truth (about the some of the vaccinations especially). I am very careful about the food- it really makes a difference. We fed our Flat Coated Lab  Hund-n-Flocken Adult Dog (lamb), which is very healthy. It is scary what they put into pet food these days...

Thank you for reminding us to do our research!

Patrick- I have never heard of Hund-n=Flocken..is it local? Is there a web site?

I ran into another person yesterday whose dog got sick on frontline a few years back and she had to stop using it. It is amazing when you start talking what you start finding out.

Alan-Your welcome and you have a happy New Year also.

I've never been a fan of flea/tick products (remember the 80's when Hartz products were causing kidney failure in pets?)  Most of the non-topicals go into the bloodstream...We don't get fleas here but ticks are everywhere, they love us and the dogs.  I use Biospot and have been using it without issues for several years.  As for pet food, it took me 10 years to find a pet food that is chemical free and its so good I sell it.  I'd be happy to provide a link to my site upon request.

Jennifer

What is alarming is a homeopathic vet was saying that frontline plus was much better than advantage and does not cause issues.

Are you using Flint River Ranch food? I have found several good foods including Eagle Pack and Natures Variety and Halo for Pets among a few.

Each food has different supplements or amounts of supplements. What works for one may not work for the other. Just kind of like in humans.

The key is to find those that do not have the preservatives in them that is known to cause problems in both animals and humans.

The pet food industry is not really regulated. That is bothersome. Then to find out that multiple different companies may use the same plant to make and package their foods is also very bothersome if there is a contamination.

My next blog to appear is candida in pets. Something also worth paying attention.

Yes, I am feeding FRR foods and my pets and I couldn't be happier.  I like how they produce the food and that they do not use fillers, chemicals, colors etc.  Plus-it doesn't sit on a shelf for months waiting to be purchased.

Jennifer, I used to be a distributor for them alsoabout 8  yrs ago. I know it is good food but for some reason or the other none of my pets would eat it. So I had to find other alternatives.
