Reasons People Buy a Home According to this chart, the top reason people move is to provide a great place to raise their families. Summerville, SC was a great place to raise my four children with my wife Patricia. We enjoyed being able to let them ride their bikes to the tennis courts for an afternoon game. Often the request to ride to “downtown” for an ice cream cone from Guerins was made. These are all big reasons to move. Now in my area rent is more then a house payment...savings is a reason to move.

I agree with you both. Savings is another great reason! Chuck-You are definitely right...more people trying to rent because of bad credit, skittishness about the market, or they are unable to get a loan...this makes the rent prices go up.
