One of the things that is the greatest reminder of Spring for me is baseball.  I love following baseball in my daily work.  I listen to the day games on the radio as I am driving around, or listen to a game playing softly in the background as I work.  The Detroit Tigers are my team for my area, and I mostly follow them.  However my pashion is for the sport itself, so I admire all the greats from many teams that play the game. 

When I lived in Atlanta for many years I followed the Braves.  Some of my all time favorites to watch were Greg Maddox, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz.  Just yesterday an article which you can read here announced that Smoltz will have his number retired in June.  The Braves have already retired Glavine's, Maddox's and even Manager Bobby Cox's numbers in recent years.  It was such a special time in my life to witness such incredible players in probably what was the greatest pitching rotation in the history of the game. 

Ever since I was a kid, I have loved sports.  Mostly Football, Baseball and Hockey.  However, my heroes have always been baseball players.  I consider myself fortunate to have seen Tom Glavine, Greg Maddox and John Smoltz pitch live at the ball park.  I was there when Sid Bream slid home in 1992 to win the National League Championship for the Braves screaming my head off with 40,000+ other fans watching a special moment in sports history. 

Through the miracles of modern technology I am now able to download an app on my iPhone that allows me to listen in on any baseball game in the country.  You can actually play it, and it pauses whenever you get an incoming phone call.  Baseball heaven for the addicted fan!  It is spring again, and baseball is here.  Ahhh!!

Michael, That statement about Sid Bream's slide in 1991 brought back some great memories!  I used to follow the Braves when they were on TBS almost every game.  Good times!  Baseball has always been my favorite sport, I too have cheered for many teams and players through the years.  It is one of my guilty pleasures to sneak peaks at games, I will have to check out that phone app!
