Brampton, Can You Handle An Emergency?
The first week in May is Emergency Preparedness Week in Canada. Brampton has been promoting this event since 2001.
Emergency Preparedness Week gives the residents a chance to meet emergency responders, watch them perform simulated duties and see the tools they use.
We are fortunate that we don't have many natural disasters in our area, but people here do encounter winter storms, heat waves, chemical spills, fires, power outages and even a lost child or elderly family member from time to time.
In a time of an emergency, the more prepared you are the safer it is for everyone including those that come to our rescue. Teaching a child when and how to use 911 or having an emergency survival kit ready could and has saved lives.
What better time to hone up on your skills than during the first week of May by participating in the Emergency Preparedness Week activities?
Brampton, Can You Handle An Emergency?
Good morning Al and Peggy -
We all need to know how to deal with an emergency! One never knows when the unexpected will happen. I hope you both enjoy this wonderful Tuesday in all you do!
John
This is so true. You can never be too prepared for an emergency. Hopefully, as folks are reading this, they're taking the necessary actions to better prepare themselves.
Al and Peggy,
Excellent public service announcement on your part in this post. It is important to have a plan whenever an emergency strikes.
Rich
Al/Peggy...A little preparation upfront could be all the difference in getting the family to safety during an emergency.
Love the concept because a dress rehearsal is critical-we need something like this in Westchester, not just a booklet-because we live so close to Indian Point Nuclear Plant!!!
Al and Peggy, we owe a debt of gratitude to the many people who protect us and care for us in an emergency. I have never heard of this week before (or perhaps I have and forgotten ;-)
Al and Peggy we also have a Emergency Preparedness Week, but I have not heard of the date for ours yet. This is a great service that our Firefighter provide to the community.
Good evening, Al & Peggy. Wow! Hard to believe that May is just around the corner. One has to be prepared and Emergency Preparedness Week is a place to start...
Hey Guys, being prepared is a good thing. Some of the towns down here would actually do mock disasters from time to time just to test emergency preparedness
