The first thing prospective buyers will see when they drive up to your Glenview home for a tour is what great curb appeal the home offers. One way to increase curb appeal is with lots of beautiful blooming and green plants to bring out the best in your home.

Here are several plants that will bloom all summer long with little maintenance. Plant them, water them now and then, and they will be first in line to help you sell your home.

1. Hostas - While Hostas do bloom with small white flowers, their main appeal is a way to fill in shady spots with lots of beautiful greenery. On top of that they are perennials and will show up for duty year after year. Of course, once you sell the home, you won't be enjoying them, but your buyers certainly will!

2. Geraniums - Although they will only last one summer, geraniums are great bloomers for that one season. Simply pluck off the old spent blooms and new ones will keep appearing all summer long. They are available in a variety of colors to complement your home. Their unique scent also acts as a natural mosquito repellant.  Geraniums

3. Petunias - Great in hanging baskets or amassed in beds, petunias will bloom well into the fall with regular watering. Plus they come in lots of beautiful colors for mixing or matching.

4. Violets - While not as flamboyant as the other blooming plants I've mentioned so far, violets can add an old-fashioned subtlety to your flower bed. These perennials are especially nice as border plants.

5. Impatiens - Although these are considered annuals, they do sometimes reseed the next year and will often become a massive splashy show of color. They love the shade so plant them under the trees for continuous color all summer.

6. Marigolds - These bright yellow favorites love the sun, and are easy to grow even for those with no green thumb whatsoever.

7. Zinnias - For hot summers with lots of sun, zinnias are the answer. Available in a variety of colors, plant them in sunny beds, and you won't be disappointed.

Don't forget, "annuals" are one-season plants and will need to be replanted next year, although a few will sometimes reseed themselves. "Perennials" will come back year after year, often bigger and better each time.

Living in the woods, with next to no sun...I've come to rely on impatients as my flower of choice.  Very informative post for sellers preparing their yards for potential buyers!
