Good Morning, Metro Detroit!
Okay, I'll admit that it's a bit of a stretch to compare the Detroit area to the Vietnam war era of the movie, but hear me out.
You see, the Metro Detroit area has been hit hard recently. Decimated by auto companies sending tons of jobs over seas and to Mexico, the incredible lay offs, massive unemployment in the area and the crashing of the real estate market.
Maybe I should've called this the Perfect Storm? Nah, I'll go with my gut.
It's taken a while, but Detroit is starting to get back on it's feet.
General Motors took a massive bailout, but then payed it back with interest. The stock holders got hosed when they filed bankruptcy, but they would have either way. GM needed to do what they did. Ford, on the other hand, never took any government money. I buy Ford. Love them.
Detroit was hit as hard or harder than anyone in the country. And we haven't given up. In fact, we're making a comeback.
It's gonna take a while, but I already see things moving in a positive way.
Even the real estate market is starting to shift.
The buyers market has been over for a little while now and we're seeing prices starting to climb somewhat.
While we're not in the clear yet, it certainly feels like a new day is coming around here.
And that's why I say...
Good Morning, Metro Detroit!
