I get calls routinely from those whom which I worked hand in hand with before I up and quit after 17 years.  LAPD is still my second family and will always be.  There is a certain brotherhood that I feel when amongst other Law-Enforcement members.  Someday I hope this will be a tie or a close second with those of you in Real Estate Circles.

Most of the time on Motors I was working the famed "Deuce Watch".  We worked from 1645hrs to 0300hrs (Yes that is AM...)  Our function was to hunt the drunk driver.  Whether it was the driver being under the influence of an Alcoholic beverage, Illegal Drug, Legal Drug, or combinations there of, we made a huge dent in the Driving Under the Influence Problem.

Sometimes if I was overtime, or going to court, in other words, being in the station at 0700am, I saw some strange things.  Things that would really put things in perspective in my life and things I could pass on to others to make them stronger and persevere.

As you walked out of Van Nuys Facilities for the LAPD, on you way out was the holding tank and benches.  These were for people that had just been arrested and were awaiting processing before they are put in Jail.  The folks sitting on the benches were handcuffed with their hands behind them to another cuff with a chain that kept them held down to the bench that they were seated on.  God forbid if you fell off the bench or were too drunk to keep from falling, it was a long way down to the floor with being tied to a bench and with your hands cuffed behind you.

I used to always think and say when I saw someone sitting on that bench first thing in the morning.  It could always be worse, "I could be the one sitting on that bench first thing in the morning".

Try to find the good in everything and give thanks continually for the small things in life.  You will start to appreciate everything you have and it will provide relief from looking at the, "It could be better, I wish I had more __________, I am depressed, I wish ___________, ".

Start looking at the "I am glad I have____________, I am happy that I___________, I am blessed to be____________, I thank God for _____________."

Come on - Lets do this thing!!!!!
