All 3 of our canine companions are rescues - and I'm grateful to have every one of them as part of our family.
All of our pets have been through similar methods. We have had great success with them all Mike. I wish more people would consider these options.
That's how I felt after Tony. I was in Denver and the rest of the clan went out and picked up Hoss. I wasn't quite ready yet, but now I'm glad they did. He's awesome.
Excellent, Marte.
Me too, Tom. There are so many available that would love a forever home.
Mutt's and pound puppies seem to be the best tempered, so long as they haven't been abused. I love rescuing pets and couldn't imagine voluntarily going to a pet store to get one. Great post and they are the sweetest!!
I agree, Tammy. All of ours have been amazing!
Good morning Mike. You know that I couldn't agree more because my experience like yours has been life altering. Pets are so loving and great fun too.
Unconditional love, Sheila. They are certainly unique in that.
Mike we have a tough boy now that we haven't been able to find a forever home for. He is bigger now and difficult because he is confused. He came from North Carolina, and his owner lost their home. He has been returned twice and has a mild form of epilepsy. He's about 70 pounds now and I'm not sure what will happen to him if he's not placed soon. I kept thinking of you. I just think he needs constancy, direction and love. Any interest?
He's a beauty, Sheila. I will ask around. I'm not sure the big guy here is ready for a roommate.
OK Mike, I thought it was worth an ask. He is strong, but I thought yours was the perfect place for him. That's his puppy picture. He's a lot bigger now but clearly smaller than Hoss.
Oh, I'd love to give him that forever home. He looks like a great dog. My first rescue sounds a lot like him. He had been bounced around so many times that the SPCA threatened to come get him and put him down because I didn't go through them when the previous owner dumped him. I said, "Try it." I never heard from them again. 8-)
Think about it OK, and talk to your family.
I've had a few rescues and they were all great dogs.
Sheila, I will definitely ask around.
Same here, Elyse. I've often thought they are thankful for a second chance.
I'm all on board... we have two pups and three cats... all shelter or strays we took into our home. I think we'll always have rescue pets in our home.
Me too, Tammy. They seem so thankful.
Sheila: He looks like he could be the father of my Scarlet who came from a kill shelter in TN and was taken in by the North Shore Animal League where I adopted her!
She has the same ear spots at the tips of her ears and that one big butt spot!
Too cute, Jennifer. You've gotta love'em.
Good morning Mike,
Wonderful post, all of my children are rescues and typically the "unadoptable" or special needs (seizure disorders, etc...) They can be a challenge, but the love they give is worth the effort.
Good for you, Lisa. You get extra points for being a rescue mom. 8-)
